I bought a cab from this gentlemen in the fall and he emailed me with some photos of some front fenders he wants to get rid of...(sale)...I'm wondering are these 38-39 Ford pickup front fenders...I just want to make sure before I travel to pick them up.. he had several old truck cabs and parts in the yard. As you can see the cab in back of the fenders is the one I bought in the fall...they look in great shape...
Hello... They look pretty close to these fenders.. 1939 Ford truck. Saved the cab, fenders, hood, side panels, and grille from it. Maybe one needs to consider that the lights look the same as these.. Good Luck with your project.. duane (NM Sandrail)
the look right to me, the drivers side looks like it has a crack up the wheel opening from the pic and a little rot down low on both but pretty fair if you don't mine repairing them some.
No money involved..swapping some tools for them..he also has the running boards..inner fenders. These fenders look like they have the brackets on them also..I'm going to grap everything he has...I know the fenders are hard to find...I'll post some pics if I get them...keeping my fingers cross..I was told that my cab is a 39...I have the steel door panels..
The headlight ring is probably worth more then the fender, but they do still sell. Lots of front fenders out there not a lot of good rear fenders. Farm truck life.
If there are any rear fenders, get them no matter what condition thay may be in - they are tough to come by from 38-41 as there are only f-gl*** repops out there for these.
Hi all.. Yeah..considering these parts are 70 years old, one needs to buy them when they are available. Some can be fixed and some have a few welds from the old days of fixing cracks in the fenders.. But repair methods and welders are much better nowdays.. Good luck with your project.. Bought this for $100...rear half of frame was chopped off years ago for a farm trailer. Saved the cab and whatever, and a friend gave me $100 for the frame and front end.. Was too heavy duty for my use...duane (NM Sandrail)
The question would be are they for a light truck (pickup), or for the big truck (larger wheel openings). I know on 35-37 pickups a quick way to tell is the light trucks have bumper slot openings and the big trucks don't. Not sure on the 38-39's.
if you dont have use for the tools it sounds like a killer deal, the extra parts will come in handy for sure
Nice, the grills go for very good money. 38's more so then the 39's, that one looks to be in very decent shape.
Well I just got back with a truck load of stuff...I don't know about some of this stuff..I know I can fix it..but it will take me all next winter in the ba*****t...I figured I traded around $300.00 worth of tools for all these parts...I ended up with both front fenders with the brackets and 2 nice headlights with mounting bases..the fenders are rough at the backsides and have several area that have cracks. I also got the driver side door panel..I needed that one..I have the p***eneger side one..also 2 inner front fenders in good shape and both running boards..they need work.....what do you think..??was it worth it..I have some work to do..
Starting a 41 P/u project -P***enger side rear fender has a ridge front to back, not the same as other side - just looked at your 39 pictures and see that ridge. I suppose that I have a correct fender on driver's side and a 39' on the P***enger side - is that right? If so, any takers on the 39' fender? Using a TCI frame - mine is rotted, but have some good running gear - front to back - is this popular stuff? the p/u is in Modesto Ca
