I am going to weld up the trunk gutters and the beltline patcheds next. Then I will fix the inner structure of the decklid and get that back on the car. Then I will get doors swinging before I do any other patch work

I straightened the welds on the tailpan today. I also made the bottom corner pieces in the gutter and welded them in. I put the licence plate back in to see how it looks. I have been checking to make sure the decklid skin still fits from time to time

Thanks for the compliment. You will get to see the car at Gene's on the reliability run. I will be working for him through the summer. The car will be going down to his shop this Friday.

  7. Kellan, I hope I can make it back to South Dakota for the Reliability Run in May and see you and the coupe.

Tuesday and Wednesday I helped a classmate wheel out some panels to lengthen the roof on his chopped '52 Buick. We had to get the panels tacked in so that he could haul it home. Friday I graduated and I took my car down to work. Hopefully there will be more updates soon.

This young man started out in the garage by the age of 3. He loved spending time out there and also found the need for "real" tools by this young age also. I always give him a hard time about his love for Fords but I'm glad to see him take things in his own direction and make his own decisions about what he likes. TomH said he's proud to call him a freind, I'm lucky enough to be able to say I'm proud he is my son. The pictures below were taken when he was 3 years old. We were working on my 'superior' 36 Ford (not a 35) and he refused to go in the house and take his nap. He was watching me run the heater hoses and layed on the front tire and fell asleep. WOW what dedication then and now. Keep up the great work.<O:p</O:p

  12. I love that pic! Kellan, don't let Gene see you doing that at work this summer!

I never really thought about it but I guess he really was "asleep at the wheel".

He won't see me doing that at work. If I wanna sleep I'll just grab a welder and put my welding helmet down. I don't get tired at Gene's since the more work I get done the better the chances are that I will get to work on my car.

Well maybe it would be more exciting to drive with a Ford engine so that I wouldn't have to sleep at the wheel:p

Good to see a father and son enjoying the hobby together. May you do so for many miles.

I got the windshield frame taken apart and I got all of the rubber out of it. I am prepping parts before the car gets sent to the blaster

I have been inch-worming along. I have been prepping parts for the blaster. I got the headlight off of one fender and I blasted the pedestal and the bracket. I got all of the rubber bumpers out of the garnish moldings. I also got the sunvisor brackets off of the header panel.

You might consider an old trick that I did to my tudor - shorten the headlight stands 1". It brings them down a little and tucks them in closer to the grille. Keep at it.

I got the headlight off of the other fender today. I also straightened the fender brace and welded some tears on it.

Here is a little side project I have been working on with the help of Gene. The headlite rings on my car had seeled beam conversions on them. So the original rings had 3 holes drilled through them. I punched out some stainless and then TIG welded them in. I ground and sanded the welds and then I buffed the ring. It's not perfect but it isn't bad. Now I just have to do the other one.

Today I got the car into the shop at work. I took all of the tackstrips out, all of the screws out of the firewall, the cowl vent. I also took the door hinges off and the door striker plates. The body is almost ready for the blaster now. All I have left is the seel from the roof insert.

Tonight I got the rubber seel out of the roof. I then removed the metal strip around the roof opening. I also finished getting all of the rubber off of the running boards.
