Hi everybody. I just moved to Washington about a month ago,and I am just wondering what the hot rod scene is like up here?
Not much but we are working on it! There are a lot of hidden cars and a ton of history but they only come out for a few months during the year. For some reason people are afraid to drive their cars in the rain. "Scene" wise the are a lot of local clubs with oldsters and a few with younger guys/gals (20's- 30's and into the 40's) but not too many.
im in bremerton, across the water from ya. small scenes out here once the weather gets nice its packed with hot rods. im in my mid 20's and lookn for other diehard hot rodders. amazing how many just want me to work on theres and then leave!
'Kidnap county...come on vacation and leave on probation!" Gotta love Bremerton with all them bremalows! I was raised in Port Orchard but live in East Renton Highlands.
Welcome, it seems there alot of hotrods in wa they are all just tucked away, can't wait to see the sun myself!!
The Hot Rod/Car Scene is alive and healthy in and around Seattle. Go to this link and it will show you all the dates for happenings. http://www.cruzinmag.com/calendar.html Just down the road 45 minutes south in Puyallup this weekend is the MILD TO WILD CAR SHOW. Three hour drive to Portland for the annual Portland Swap Meet. 45 Minute drive up to Monroe the Evergreen Speedway opener. I know there will be sprint cars on the asphalt along with a whole list of other car stuff, also figure eights. Over here in Issaquah 17 miles from downtown Seattle @ the XXX Rootbeer, there is always something going on, check the schedule. What kind of car do you have? Do you like to attend cruise ins? When the weather is dry, we have a Saturday evening cruise in at the XXX Rootbeer, there is a nice cruise in in Clearview also. We are starting up a Friday Cruise in at the Gas Lamp Tavern next month in Issaquah. stay in touch. Gary There is two drag strips within an hour's drive of Seattle, Check out Pacific Raceways and Bremerton Drag Strip.
hahaha ya good ole kitsap. navy dropped my off here and now that i have my shop and rods kinda stuck! wasingtons like canada build build build and hope its ready when the sun comes out!
Yeah I know what you mean. I used to work out at Daves Rods and Customs back in 2001 before Dave retired and I made the dumbass mistake of moving to North Carolina for no reason what so ever. His shop was up in Chico right down from the Red Apple diner. My dad is in the Saints over in Po Dunk and they put on the show in downtown Port Orchard every year. Does Mark Cain still have his shop over by Crazy Erics?
Thanks for all the info.I moved from Arizona about a month ago.yes I know it rains here.lol. I am mostly into 1950s fords.I have been working on my friends 54 ford customline for the past year.I dont have ny own yet but am hoping to get one by this summer.
Come out to Billetproof (Chehalis, Wa) and the Rose City Round Up (Portland, Or) both in June to get a feel for the "scene".
Where you at in the Seattle area? North/South ? I am down in Bonney Lake which just south and east of Seattle.
im in kidnap county too. poulsbo to be exact, where "you dont loose your girlfriend you loose your turn" we got a good group of guys up here but not all are traditionalist, alot of muscle car guys but as for me as long as its got 4 wheels and power i like it.
Mill creek is north of Seattle is'nt it? A good weekly show and shine will be starting soon between Renton and Kent at the Harly dealer by the theater there. It is hosted by a local club and should be pretty good. This event is on Friday afternoon/evening/nights.this will be the first season at this establishment and it is well situated for many more areas to be represented. Any way walcome to the area and hope to see ya out there...
If you live in Mill Creek, your best bet for a weekly Cruise In would be the Albertsons Market Cruise In on Saturday Afternoons in Clearview. Probably not that far from your place. Lots of really great cars gather out in front of the store, between there and the Mc Donald's on the corner of 176th ST SE and Hwy 9. Probably a Snohomish address..
Ha Ha Bremelow I used to live in Seabeck. I had a Bremelow move in to my house when I asked her to watch it for me while on vacation in Mexico.
Welcome, there is a pretty good scene here during the summer. The one good thing about fall winter and spring, you get to work on your car, if you have a garage!
Welcome Shine! I'm in Sultan, not too far from Mill Creek. Once summer gets here, there is a lot going on locally. Not sure what kind of music you're into, but there is a great rock-a-billy scene here as well. If interested, hit me up & I'll get you the info
Also, We just started a Seattle chapter of the Taildraggers C.C. 2 days ago. We have chapters in SoCal (Inland Empire area), New Mexico, a new chapter in Salt lake city and the mother chapter in Las Vegas. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002219212544 Trying to keep it going year round instead of just for a few months during summer.
I will into those shows thanks again . 13 yeah i listen to a lot of rockabilly and psychobilly. 123 I will check out your page.
Welcome to Washington, Friday evenings there is a cruise in at the Taco Time in Lynnwood at 196th and 44th streets at around 5 PM until .... on Saturdays late afternoon there is the cruise in at the Clearview McDonalds and the Jack in the Box in Arlington. And there are shows everyweek end around the area.
] I actually started the car cruise up at Albertsons. It was about 10 years ago but on the N side of the parking lot as there was alot more parking. It got to about 70 cars and then the next year it pretty much rained every Saturday night for a couple months. It died!!! Then the next year Kent McGreuger of the Mustang club started it back up at the McDonalds side. It is becoming a very cool cruise in with lots of killer cars.
ya theres a shop next to red aplle. right now it has a 40s new yorker and a 50 new yorker out front, cain is still in the same spot he chopped my old bosses car and installed the ifs
