hey guy's, I'd like to change my 235 babbit motor with accessory oil filter to a full flow oil filter... I know its not the full pressure motor but think a real oil filter maybe a good upgrade. I have read the old school hop up book, but that is involves a gmc oil pump and converting to full pressure also. Can i just convert to full flow with my stock oil pump? Help/tech would be AWESOME!!!! I have the motor out and apart so i'd like to do it soon... thanks Jason
Not worth the trouble, and may even slow the oil enough to do some damage on a cold start. The byp*** filter actually does a pretty good job, it's a finer medium than full flow filters use. Just change the oil and filter often and use a good 20 weight oil and the Dip will love it.
The most important tip when o'hauling a Dipper is this...DO NOT use the oil pan for parts storage! Set it aside carefully, upside down, so the oil squirt tubes don't get bent or squished. If they get out of alignment, the rods won't last a week. You can check them with a garden hose, squirt water in the p***age and see if they all spray the same way. There is a target jig for setting them exactly, but if they are all visibly the same and centered over the troughs they haven't been knocked out of whack.
Just buy my full oiler and save yerself the trouble ( and get it outta the garage! lol)..you could even build it like the hot rod 6 you want
