Its paint..figured I give it a try..I sent my wifes heavily pitted 58 Edsel Mirrors in...interesting stuff.
We had some Elsa Chrome paint, it was pretty good stuff. http://alsacorp.com/products/killercans/kc/killerchrome.htm
R & C had a real good article on spectrachrome (I think is was) a couple of issues ago. Looked good---wonder how durable it is. Chroming is not cheap anymore--
it inlcuded the prep work too.I dont know how much to Chrome plate it, I figured around $175-$200 I took my 34 Grille, windshield and the wifes Edsel Mirrors in too..Really curious to see how my Grille comes out, that had alot of pits and craters and took alot of prep work, charging me $600 to do it.should be done next week.I will post pics.. They wanted $2000-$2500 to chrome my grille
He has REAL sensitive eyes from all those years playing in dark clubs..........that and jokes go right over his head!
I believe this is the spray-chrome process we are all talking about explained in detail: http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/sprayon_chrome/1232328 Very cool stuff!
I've been hoping someone close to me will start the chrome spray painting. Almost 2 yrs. ago I was given a estimate of "About $600.00 per wheel." to chrome 4 old chrome slots I have. The company was VERY clear that $600/wheel was "Only an estimate, NOT a quote for the work!" 2.4K or more for a rechrome is WAY out of my price range.....
Turned out really nice. I would be interested in how long yours lasts because I have considered chrome painting parts before.
Here are some pictures of some chrome that our son did at CHROME IT NOW /PRO -CHROME, LLC. To contact him call Brian @ 417-773-9019. Thanks
