It is that time again.... This year I will be coordinating several classes again including a "Stock to Rock" category for the annual EyesOn Design car show, which will be June 19, Fathers Day, on the grounds of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI. This is a great Invite only show that celebrates the design aspect of the automobile. This show is a benefit for the Detroit Institute of Opthalmology, which is an excellent cause. Several awards will be presented to cars that will be judged by feel by judges who are without sight. See www.eyesondesigncarshow.com for more info, or search Eyes on Design on this site to see lots of pics from previous shows. The "Stock to Rock" category will place a stock, or at least stock appearing automobile beside a similiar car that has been modified. Open to street rods and customs, as long as we can create a matching pair! Already confirmed is an amazing 1928 ForDor that will be shown after being in hibernation since 1970, virtually unmolested. Also several H.A.M.B. members have confirmed and many have participated in the past. If you have a suitable candidate, (either stock, rod or custom) especially if you know of a matching car to apir up with, please let me know. THANKS! Bob Ashton aka Bashton bashton426@gmail.com
Would also like to see as many Traditional style rods, especially those from "back in the day" for this. Since the emphasis is on Design, I am not looking for just "trailer queen" show cars, so nice cars that have been driven OR original cars that have been used are welcome to apply. Bashton
can I be in the show 2 years in a row? My blue 28 Model A coupe was in it last year, and I REALLY enjoyed it. Probably wouldn't be hard to find a stock Model A ford to set near it
Thanks for asking; Since we only have 10-14 cars in most categories, I don't repeat cars in back to back years to keep it fresh for the spectators. Your car is nothing short of amazing and it was a great addition to the show last year. I will certainly keep you in mind for next year and THANKS for being a part of the 2010 show! Bashton
After looking at your profile, it certainly looks like you could make this category real interesting! Let me know what you would consider showing with us. This really is a great show for a great cause and an excellent opportunity to do something a little differant. Heck...we'll even feed ya! Bashton bashton426@gmail.com
MercDeuceMan - more that interesting---amazing is more like it. great show, wonderful location. Go just to be there, and take the house and garage tours. Well worth the price of admission when you have your car in the show (FREE and they feed you) some shots from last year, but search it and you'll finds lots more to see http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=486096&highlight=eyes+on+design my '47 isn't pretty enought to be in the show, but i'd do it with the coupe again in the future, just let me know
John, I can't encourage you enough to do it. The event is AWESOME, the Edsel Ford Estate is breathtaking and the show crew know how to treat exhibitors. I did the event a couple of years ago with Big Olds and Dad did it before that with his '56. 2009 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=273480&highlight=eyes+on+design&showall=1 2007 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191457&showall=1
We now have both stock and modified cars ranging from a 1928 Murray body Ford Sedan "barn find" (all stock) up to the wild Murray Pfaff 1959 Imperial Speedster. Having a stock/stock appearing car right next to a modified car, or as I like to say "personalized" version is going to be a lot of fun and I am betting will be a highlight of the show. Keep 'em coming! Bashton MCACN Managing Member www.mcacn.com
The stock to rock displays have alway been my favorite. The '59 Imperial display will no doubt be the highlight of the event.
Many thanks to all who have responded. The Stock to Rock category has been extremely well recieved and I believe it will be one of the highlights of the show. The range and variety are absolutely amazing. Rods, Customs, some Traditional Rods and of course, some beautiful stock originals, and of course, our "barn-find" '28! Why yes...yes I do, and if that is the Merc, would absolutely LOVE to add it to the mix. Please send info to bashton426@gmail.com Thanks; Bashton MCACN Managing Member www.mcacn.com
Anyone out there own or know of a custom 49 or 50 Ford Tudor? I have access to a gorgeous 28,000 mile original and would love to show a pair of these. Bashton426@gmail.com if you would like to be part of a fantastic show that helps out a great cause. Agian; many thanks to all who have responded and especially all of you who will be joining us on Fathers Day! Bashton MCACN Managing Member www.mcacn.com
all you guys who wrote pages of complaints about car show/ car show people NEED to go to this show,,,it is done right,,,and it keeps the riff raff cheap skate free loaders out,,,great show just out side of Detroit on the Lake St. claire on ford mansion grounds,,, If you posted on this thread ,,, you need to go to this show and ENJOY yourself,,,classic cars and classy people http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=572143
Any room for a Muscle Rat? A Muscle car thats been used, abused, and turned into a B stock refugee from the 1960s? Its a trend setter, or maybe just a pile of crap. Either way its unique.
Need some more info on this one, but am interested. Since we are doing a "Stock to Rock" group, I would need to match up a stock appearing car next to it, so I guess it depends on what kind of car it is. Please send more info and pictures to bashton426@gmail.com Thanks; Bashton MCACN Managing Member www.mcacn.com
One of the best shows anywhere - My Dad and I have hit it together for over 10 years now as our Father's Day event. We never have had a year yet where we haven't seen a car that we didn't even know existed. Always a treat and we always meet some very interesting people. Not to mention, the location is so awesomely beautiful.
Still looking for a 46-7-8 Ford to put beside VooDoo Larry's '46. Anyone have a stock appearing 46, 47 or 48 Ford that would do the trick? bashton426@gmail.com Bashton MCACN Managing Member www.mcacn.com
