Hey guys I was wondering if you can put a distributor out of a 91 chevy truck into my camaro and make it work. I was wanting to go with a hei so I went to my local salvage yard and bought one of the smaller ones with the external coil so I would have more room and not be so close to the firewall but after I bout it i got to thinking there is no vacuum advance on this distributor and I didnt know how the advance would work.....soo my question is will it work if so how does the advance work? Thanks in advance.....Stacey

Wrong one for the application. Those go to the computer controlled engines.

I'd think a regular Hei with vacuum advance would fit that car but there are aftermarket units that use and external coil.

I've been running one of these in my 71 GMC for two years 330547670675 Ebay number. One of the most reliable outfits to deal with on Ebay.
Here from the same people 350438447837 Small cap unit.
Hunt their listings a bit and they probably have the matching coil too.

Both for less than buying a used one out of a junk yard and then buying new pieces or it. That outfit is a store front business and they are great about answering any question you have with no nonsense answers.

MSD's "ready -to- run' is the smaller dist and fits nice on tight applications. It can also be hooked up with or without the box.

i think you would need a big hammer to adjust the firewall.

Yeah, a little "love tap" with a hammer and a piece of 2x4 on the Camaro/Nova firewall is all you need to make room for those HEI dizzies... :D
