Ok get ready to give me **** ,I need some wheels on my old Edsel. I refuse to put $400 wheels on a $200 car. If I took a set of Centerlines that I have ( I know not traditional ) and engine turned the centers would that look all that stupid? I don't think Fooose would approve but would you laugh at me on the friday night cruise? Go ahead I can take the flack.
Don't do it. Run the wheels if there all you got and it gets you down the road who cares. But, don't try and church them up with engine turning the centers. Send that time and effort somewheres else and find you some steel wheels and hubcaps, it's an Edsel.
Yeah just run steelies with chrome lug nuts....you can't paint them a different color every couple of weeks to keep it new looking. Hell, rusty steelies are better than new centerlines.
The good news is,... you could still screw full Moon's right on them if it really looks as silly as I envision,...
The So-Cal 34 Coupe ran engine turned disks on the wheels and nobody said anything back then, but that was a FORD not an Edsel.
What's your bolt pattern on that? I've got some steelies I'll sell you cheap. At least 2 of them are multi pattern with a ford BP. Run hubcaps. Hubcaps are cheap, they snap in. hide your rim. Many different hubcaps to choose from. I have an Edselero and the Edsels are a nice break when cruising around the normal stuff.
here is the way i see this... if it's really a $200 car, run it with the centerlines, or any other wheel you want for that matter. piss on anyone who laughs at you at a cruise night... you can laugh all the way home knowing you paid $200 for a car, ANY CAR, yes, even an edsel, for $200 that runs and drives. hell, i'd BRAG about the fact i scored a driver for $200. motor on dude, motor on.
If it's what you have to do to run your car, just put them on, drive it and screw anyone that says anything.
Awhile back I saw some Centerlines / Weld wheels (the ones with the series of round holes around the outside of the center section) that were either powdercoated or anodized black. They looked very good, sorta like a vintage truck wheel or those space saver rims you see on new police cars that folks like to use. Too bad they don't make them in 16 or 18 diameters, or I might try doing up a set. Gary
Lol! just picture it; she's walking towards you with a bottle of Boone's Farm and a box of rubbers...
Sorry, my bust. JoeCool, post a side picture of your Edsel and I'll Photoshop some Centerlines on it. Maybe it'll give you an idea of what it might look like.
Being an official "Grenade Inspector"! I reesepectfully agree with all that have agreed with you and disagree with all that have disagreed!!
give it a try... it won't ruin the centerlines they are **** anyway, and you can always put the old wheels back on.
Just paint the old wheels ,Center lines are for drag cars ,Do you have a dragcar Edsel...I didnt think so,Dont ever mix and match era's ,Except if its a 29 or 32 ,But dont ever put centerlines on a hot rod unless its a drag car ............
