I was going to try and make it. Never been to it, but I am looking for a project or some ideas for projects anyway.
Just a heads up for those going to the swap meet. The location is just across the street from the Home Depot on SE Hamblen Road. The main intersection is US 50 and 291 North Highway. The exit jams up pretty fast so head on down US 50 going east to the Ramson / Todd George exit ( next exit off US 50 if going east or exit right before if headed west). Go south on Ranson about 1/4 mile or so to the water tower and turn right (heading West) on SE Bailey. Follow Bailey back to the west till you hit the swap meet (Bailey turns into Hamblin), you will come around most of the traffic and should get right in. The swap meet parking is at the corner of Bailey and Hamblin in the old MOPAC rail lot, Budweiser is in the same corner. Joe
How many vendors usually come to this event? Is the swap meet small or is it huge were it takes 3-4 hours to see everything? Please let me know. Thought about coming down.
very much so friday will probably take 3 hours to walk, saturday probably 4 or so unless your w my slow *** dad lol love ya dad but ur slow
I will be out there on Saturday. Don't expect it to be near the swap it used to be. The fall was a joke! As long as they are in that location I won't be setup to sell! Not worth it for no more crowd then they can draw over there.
I work with one of the guys involved in this, four months ago they had over 200 signed up to sell, he's been busy so I don't know the final count. 3-4 hours should cover it if you go fast. Should be lots of food and drink, and plenty of rides back to the parking area. Its a long walk from the parking lot so wait for the shuttles. This is the best lot they can find, no one wants to lend them space. If you have a idea for a good location, please see one of the Shriners and let them know. Joe
I'll be there selling and hopefully find some bits and pieces as well . April sold out last year,we did good selling and made some buys . sept was a lil slower .
Do you guys think its worth me driving down from Omaha? I've never been their. I just wanted to know if their are alot of car parts and alot of vendors?
Mods, can you merge these threads? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=460290&highlight=ararat for directions, go to the home depot off 50 highway in Lees Summit, then go past it on Hamblen Rd, Look for the industrial yard on the west side of the road. If you get to the Budweiser building, you went too far.
I went on Saturday. Didn't really find anything I couldn't live without, but here's my link with a bunch of pictures of project cars and other interesting bits should you get bored and want to relive the joy of the swap meet.
it was down from last year for vendors and spectators. Sales were down, but I didn't have much , got a few deals with the little time I had to walk . The crazy weather may have deterred some even though sat day was real nice
