I didn't want to break his heart and tell him you can buy nice repops for around 250.00...I'd like to have the real thing but that was just stupid.

  2. Well I just got back from the Swamp meet and it was as good as ever.
Got there Wednesday night and parked in the swampy RV parking at the vendor entrance. It wasn't too bad but by the next morning the gr*** had turned to mud from the cars and RVs pulling in and out. We discussed all what we were looking for and watched a bit of CW TV. Its the only channel that works now without a digital scrambler. The good news was that the weather forecast on the news said "Slight chance of rain on Thursday and partly Sunny on Friday. The Race track opens on Thursday and the Expo site on Friday. So Thursday we got up and started looking for our parts. I didn't find what I was looking for but bought an aluminum head from a 1932 straight 8 Packard that was painted gloss black and had spark plugs and 32 stainless acorn nuts with old type writing "Flatheads forever". You couldn't even buy the Acorn nuts for the price I paid for the whole head. Sort of a cool wall hanging for the barn. It got lots of positive comments while rolling it around the track. I also picked up a bell housing, a s**** pedal, a couple really old tin truck toys, an original round Hurst shifter, a vacuum heater diverter valve and a bunch of other things. All for around $100 .
After walking the race track and infield it was back to the RV for a few nice cold ones. Cooked up a couple steaks and potatoes and headed out again for lap two!!! I found a gas tank extension with a cap for $5. After getting back to the RV the second time, we were all done for the night. The good news for Thursday "NO RAIN"!!! Friday we went up to the Expo center and saw lots of cool stuff and there were some great deals on some cars and lots of parts but by this time I was just thinking about putting my feet up. Headed back to the RV. Took a couple hr rest and headed back around the race track again and found a set of new 3.89 gears that were for a Ford 9" unfortunately I didn't do a count on the teeth and they turned out to be 3:70s I got them cheap enough and will resell them as what they are. Friday night the rain came and went and came and went..... Got up Saturday and went back to the Expo site and found a pretty cool brake attachment for a 20 ton press which I bought. Glad to be home and after walking a million miles my feet are also glad to be home!!!!
Oh and I also paid a special visit to April May!!!

I saw those - was the $65 one still there?

  4. Was that SW tach at the track by the vendor entrance. If it was, I had my hand on it and was close to buying it. I think the price on it was $40 but everyone was very negotiable.

  5. Nice!!!! orvettes are rare!!

No, this was in a building at the Expo. It was on a tach and I asked if he would sell it seperate and he said for 20.00 he would

  7. Saw her also. She had a pretty good booth set up and my friend bought one of her Billetproof shirts.

Also, anyone see the 28-29 A roadster at the very corner gate to the Expo? Full roller and a very decent body for 5,500.00....didn't seem bad for a nice A roadster at Portland.

  9. Oh, I thought it was the whole tach. I saw an old SW tach at the race track for $40 which looked like a killer deal . Also a SS s**** pedal with bracket for $40. Didn't buy either but they were gone when I looked for them later.

  10. How about that full custom 1950 Ford on bags . It sold for $25 but was Swwweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

Just got home, if i had a pedometer on my shoe it surely would have read 15 miles, i have blisters on both feet:(. I got a few items, a nice 36 banjo rear complete, sans wishbones, a couple of 34 axles a 37 axle, a model A wishbone, a nice tapered rear leaf, and misc sheet metal. Also a phone number to a possible vintage parts stash:)

Headed out early in the AM to go down and see if you guys left anything for me to find.
Big thing on the shopping list is a pair or single AD Chevy pickup long bed running boards.
My wife will probably be hunting for a chair in someone's booth to sit in while I hunt parts.

Next year I'm packing a folding stool! There's almost no place to stop and sit at PIR. At least the Expo had bleachers to stop and rest on by the buildings!

This was in the expo building...B I think? But there was a bunch of 59 grilles and one really nice 58.

  19. I actually didn't mind the flying eye ball.

Also for those that don't get the magnitude of this swap meet, the track is just shy of 2 miles long. It also has roads on the inside and and side roads on the infield. Boths sides of the track are full and all the infield roads on both sides are full. If you add up all the sides and the infield, I wouln't doubt that you have to walk 10 miles. to just see the booths, not including walking around in each booth. The Expo is as big as all the parking lots and buildings are all full!!!!

I got back from Portland late last night, man my legs and back are killin me!
Got there about 7:30, and tried to hit both PIR and the EXPO. I looked for some of you Hambers that said you were goin, I did see one guy, from a distance, with a cardboard Hamb sign around his neck. I was gonna say HI, but something shiny caught my eye, when I looked up he was gone! Had a good time, found some cool deals, and closed out my trip with some Voodoo Donuts! Great Times!

I've been to Pomona and Long Beach Swaps several times as I used to live in So Cal area, I can honestly say the Expo Center Swap is on par! I can't wait till 2012

Was Hurst Tires there? I didn't make through all the buildings so if they were there I must have just missed them.

that chopped ford was nice. looked like a decent price.

had hoped to find a set of nice Kelsey Heyes 16" wires for my Modified project. found three sets, all had at least one rim that was less then 'good' (bents, corrosion or something else) and prices ran $500, 750 and 800 for a set of 4. did not think it was going to be that tough to find a nice set. I need a nice set with no corrosion or bends since I do not plan to run trim rings.

I know of a very nice set. They have been blasted and powder coated. He wanted $800 for them. If you're interested, PM me and I will try to get in contact with him for you, or get his contact info. It's a "friend of a friend" type thing, I don't know him personally.

Came home Saturday night, bought some old little pages( custom truck features) found a few RJ"s I didn't have at a nice price. No luck on finding chrome running boards for my 55 F100, bought some new outside rearview mirrors, and polished stainless steel taillight brackets. Set of 58 Impala bottle caps. Bought a 1968 Schwinn Sting-ray Run-A-Bout( Should get used alot at Billetproof) Got a chance to talk to Mike Gregg from Belmount Speed Shop about my truck( thank you Mike, for filling me in it) Had a fun time, ran into a few folks. See everyone at Monroe !
