Hot Rods VIN number of a Chevy S-10 frame

Can anyone tell me how to determine the VIN number of a Chevy S-10 frame. I bought an S-10 frame for a project and the guy I bought it from did not know the year, it seemed llike a good idea at the time... I've read a lot of info on these pages and seems like I found everything but how to determine the year. Is there a VIN number stamped on the frame? And if so, where would it be?

1995 Full Size Chevy PU is on the right side top of the framerail even with where the p*** door would line up. Don't know if S10 is the same.

also, try s10forum.com for info. think the '83-2003 are pretty much the same thing

 

my 84 s10 had it in the same place as the full size, top of the p***enger side frame rail under the door.
