In the process of installing a T5 behind a 292 in my 64 F100. Sent off my three speed bellhousing to get modified. I was told three to four weeks to get it done and back. That was six weeks ago. I have to get this thing back together. I would just put the three speed back in, but I already have the hole in the floor patched. I ordered an adapter last week for a four speed bellhousing, which I had a four speed bellhouing on another y block. Went to bolt the adapter tonight, and the bolts don't line up. Did Ford make several different bellhouings for a four speed?

The Y-block truck four speed bellhousing has a different pattern than the car bellhousing. No one makes an adapter for a four speed truck bellhousing to a T5 that I am aware of and if they did you would have to use the longer input shaft 1994 up T5. Who's adapter do you have? Four speed truck bellhousings have been modified to work with 1993 and earlier Mustang V8 T5's, no adapter. http://fordtruk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11902&highlight=speed+bellhousing

I had a t-18 in mine from a '62 F100. The bell housing depth is the same as 93'- down t-5. ( 7.125"?) Just drill bolt holes and go.

True but it's going to be $600 plus after adding the truck brackets and shipping

  6. You need a different flywheel and starter with that one.

Make sure it is a V8 5.0 T5. The 4 cylinder and V6 ones look the same but have different length input shafts.

A V8 one may need just a little cut off the input shaft with a cutoff wheel when used with some adaptors.

Should be an easy and worthwhile swap with the right V8 trans.

Anybody with a Y Block should jump at the chance to get rid of the factory starter. If I could solve my bellhousing problems and rid myself of that horrendous starter drive for $600, I'd do so in a heartbeat.

I got the adapter from Wilcap. The T5 that I have came out of a 89 Mustang GT. Talked with Wilcap today, he is not sure what bellhousing I have. I am going to send him pictures tonight.
