With regards to the radio idea I did pretty much the same thing on my 56. The select control activated the windscreen washers, the volume controlled the iPod volume via a small amp and the push ****ons were for activating the line lock, and an immobiliser with a few spares.

Takes a bit of time to get your head around using relays but means that you can keep the dash as intended but still have the control you require.

Top tech, a great use of parts and imagination. Well done.

I essentially have mine the same..a hidden on/off switch (no key) with a "pull" starter (3 position, off/on/start). BUT, I do have the start knob labeled "S" & the choke knob labeled "C." Remember that you might have a situation where you're leaving your truck with a stranger (service or state inspection, for example)...be sure to inform them of what controls what. They WILL be turning on the key to start the truck & they may go to choke it first. That being said, very nice job.

I really like the cigarette lighter idea, but our truck didn't have one. I'll have to remember that one though, for future use.

What a great idea. You could have used a starter switch from So-Cal and just added your own Choke knob as it would be rated for application. Very cleverly done and thank you for all the detailed photos.

True, Not as much fun in that at all.;) I have to agree with you on that.

Well, some time ago I found the manufacturer of those switchs that So-Cal sell and they have a big mark up on them.
