Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by Guernsey boy, Feb 1, 2011.

  1. hello everyone, my name is neil et***e, i'm 26 and i live in on an island called guernsey (google it :p)

i've lurked here for a while but now the build of my model A coupe is well under way i thought i'd better post an intro!

i've had old cars since i was 17, some old brits but mostly VW's (please don't shoot me...) and now i'm building what i've always wanted. a traditional 30/31 model A coupe with a 283 sbc.

other interests are art, i'm a sign writer by trade, heavy music, punk music, rock music in general, i also play drums. i also enjoy the occasional beer....

    this is me-

Welcome to the HAMB, Guernsey Boy.

I own a car that was raced on Guernsey ( a Mallock U2 Mk6 ), that I'd like to trace the history off.

Do you know any of the old Hillclimb racers?

    Thanks man...

Here are some pics of it, when I got it.

This is what it looked like when I bought it, in Dover.

    Mk6 001.jpg

    Roger & Mk6 001.jpg

It had an steel bottom end Twincam ( 1860, I think ) in it when it raced on Guernsey but that was already gone when I found it .

It had a mural of the Dark Side Off The Moon album cover on the ducktail back, and the body was black with green stripes.

I changed to body back to original ( the ducktail was a later modification ), but I have the piece of aluminum with the mural hanging on my wall.

This it wat it looks like today.

( with a X-flow Kent, but I'm collecting parts for another Twincam...)

I bought it about 20 years ago, so I'm guessing it must have raced there about 20 to 30 years ago.

  13. thanks for the warm welcome guys!

that mallock is super cool, what i'll do is print off those pictures and put them on the notice board at the local motor racing club house. some of the old timers there are sure to remember it.

Super nice car, but i suppose you must be a bit lonely as a hot rodder down there? Seeing the island is rather smallish...
