I have a friend with a 1961 Buick Skylark that has 4 lug 13" wheels. He wants to run 15" 5 lugs . Does anyone make an adapter to do this?

Your bolt pattern and offset is same as Datsun so they run these. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/c...=6&PHPSESSID=b052dfbcf38e8c50fd1200bf8c17fe71
    or you can run these
    www.wheeladapter.com I don't know their cost
Or you could just run some 15" 4 lug wheels
    http://kmhafer.datsun510.com/wheelFAQ.htm
And add to the pictures at the bottom of that listing aftermarket wheels for Mustang as most seem to have early and late pattern and early pattern is also 4 on 4-1/2"
My favorite is Starion and Conquest but I had to get 300Z wheels with new studs and spacers as they had 1/2" more offset than I needed for my 260Z.

Heres a good question....Are there any cool 4 lug wheels? I'm kickin around the idea of buyin my buddies 61' comet but I want some cooler wheels. I want to go for the 60's cruiser/lowrider look but I can't find any hip 4X4.25 wheels. I'm pretty sure crager doesn't make em' anymore and I really don't like the look of centerlines. I know that mustang II's and Pintos share the same bolt pattern and I was contemplating trying to work with some of those wheels. Can you get astro supremes in four lug? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Johnny

Yours should be 4x4.5. Ford went to 4x4.25 with the Fox bodied Mustangs. There's not a lot available. American now offers a slot. Most of the cool 4 lug are high dollar for import, which is why Datsun guys switch to 5 lug. A lot of Honda offerings out there. The bottom of the 510 link has pics of factory wheels. Probably your best bet.

The 61 Comet has a 4x4.5" bolt pattern. The MII and Pinto wheels won't fit (those are 4x4.25"), but all those Datsun suggestions that phil19434 had might. Beware using Datsun wheels. The wheels fit fine, but Datsun lug nuts have a different seat angle and Ford lugnuts don't tighten well unless you retaper the wheel holes.

Coolest I've seen on an early comet were some chrome reverse steelies with baby moons.

Thanks for the suggestions! I just found the americans, they're decent...definately a nicer option. So Comets run 4x4.5?...thanks for setting me straight, I would have bought the wrong size. Is there a place that sells the Chrome reverse wheels?...that'd be pretty slick. I've got a 510/Z friend, I'll pick his brain too and see if hes got anything hes willing to part with. Johnny

Heres the americans...available in both 4x4.25 and 4x4.5

Thanks fer the info Phil1934. Looks like the wheeladapter.com site is the way to go fer my buddy. He's a Buick GN nut, has about 8 of em, he's got a set of GN or Turbo Regal wheels he wants to use.

The 61 Skylark was goin to be gutted and a GN drivetrain put in but the car's too nice as is so he's not gonna mess with it except the wheels.

Anyone got a 2 dr 61 Skylark for sale? He still wants to do a turbo set up in one. :D

Moser or most any axle shortening/respline shop can redrill the hubs to another pattern......so you do not have to do adapters.....( I hate wheel adapters )

you'll probably need to re-drill, there's not much room in the front or back.
a friend had his redrilled, and (3rd gen) f-body wheels will work. 8" GN wheels are probably not going to fit...

There's someone on performanceyears.com in th e'61-'63 Tempest section selling disc brake mounts for $50. 5 lug rotors will do that end and if you can find a five lug rear or axles for the other that would do it.

There was also a factory 4 lug 15" wheel for these cars used mostly on the 4-doors and wagons. I'm still looking for a set......
