So been doing some research trying to figure out how to mate my GM pump to my MII rack. If I understand correctly the hose listed in the Fatman Fab. catalog is correct for the rack but still needs the fitting on the pump end changed? If I have a hose made is the length of the hose an issue (as long as it is long enough to allow for tightening the belt)? For the return line can I use return line hose with just fittings and hose clamps? Havent been able to find a reasonably priced option...

Speedway carries black rubber hoses with the correct ends for GM and MII or get the fittings for the rack, Speedway has therm also, and have a hose made from the local hose shop, or tractor supply shop, with 6AN ends. The return hose is fine at the pump with a hose clamp. just be sure you have the rught fittings at the rack. I struggled for two summers until I got the correct fittings from Speedway for the rack..

I bought the Borgeson hose kit from Summit part# BRG-925102. Also, get the PS pump pressure reducing kit part #BRG-899001. I didn't realize I needed to reduce the PS pump pressure when using a GM pump and a ford rack, I blew the input seal on my rack within 300 miles.

  5. For a $ savings, go find the right ends (you'll need one for the high pressure on the pump & 2 for the rack), then go find a good hydraulic hose shop, get the right high pressure hose from them and mark it to the right length (you won't be able to cut it correctly). Take the hose and fittings back to the shop and have them crimp on the ends. That's what I did and have very high quality hoses for about half the price.

  6. If you use a GM type II pump-small one with a remote resevoir (and some have a small one attached)-and a 1979-up style Mustang rack-you do not need to reduce the pressure at the pump.

I vote buy a hose/fitting kit-I pieced it together and spent more time and $$ to get the same thing that I could have had in the kit. Your time and gas are worth something.

I heard that most Mustang II kits being sold today use the T-Bird rack that will work with the GM pump without using a pressure reducer?
