I was wondering what everyone used for front turn signals on their fenderless cars or if anyone even uses them?

If you were running H4 style headlights you can get a signal indicator that goes inside the housing. Basically it is a glovebox light, and you could wire it up to the turn signal wire and use that. this is what i am referring too:

Or, you could just use your hand.

yeah run a turn single bulb in the main headlight housing, or convert the top light on a guide light to a turn signal. or possibly find a small light in a motorcycle parts catalog and put it on the head light stand or some were else un suspecting.

I have a set of chrome bullet ones for a Harley I can use but I usually don't use them anyways when in my daily so I was thinking of the hand route.

  5. The bullets will work just fine. Just tuck 'em in somewhere, like close to the bottom of the grill shell or the side of a frame horn.

Depends what sort of fenderless car you have. I used small cowl lights for indicators on the modified. But these wouldn't suit a lot of cars.

Oh, the ugly guy in the photo is me. :D

This is a 20 set. The chrome body had some shelf wear so I powder coated them to resemble an old commercial head light. (they're on my pickup.)

not to bash anyones car but i get sooooo tired of those 1-800 hot rod parts turnsignals and the motorcycle turn signals. I know they are cheap and easy but they are borrrrrring.:) Old cowl lights make great turn signals and they look like they were made before 1990. They are cheap because no one is restoring the really old cars that used them but there is no web site to order them from.:D

I put the coupe in the Deuce area at Charlotte one year. 99% had the speader bar with the built in lights or they had the chrome bolt on that every hot rod dealer sells. You walk down the line of Deuces and it was comical. I bet if you look closely at any of the cars that really impress you with.. "the look"...they wont have 1-800 turn signals.

Sorry for the rant. It's one of my many pet peeves. You must be putting some thought in them or you wouldn't ask for ideas.

I totally agree with you. I was just suggesting the in headlight turn signals...(i guess this might of been what you were referring too) because i think they would look cool as a driving light as well. Just dimmly lighting the housing...i just think this a tight look. Anyways, i totally agree with you about the cowl lights...they look great!

If your radiator shell is curved some on the sides and as deep as say a 33Ford pickup or deeper, lights similar to the ones I have on my '40 GMC might work for ya. They are the stock parking lights on '40 Chevy cars and '40 Chevy and GMC pickups. I just moved them down to the sides when I cut the fenders back and reshaped the panels. They are 5 3/4" long and the mounting base part is 3 7/8" long, sothat should give you some idea as to whether some of them might work for you.

They can be pricy but they do look sharp a good place to look for them is on old trucks I believe mine came off of a old Reo Truck. They was a bit rusty but after a couple of weeks soaking in Mol***es they look pretty good.

Those look good. I thought a bout those but they usually go to high in price for me. When I actually go to buy head lights I nay end up just paying whatever I need to to get some. I am considering the no front signals more than anything else.

  16. I usually use an early reflector type headlite with a halogen headlite bulb in the center of reflector and then drill a hole at [12 oclock at top] and install an amber turn sig bulb inside the reflector.....it really winks at ya!

I have rears for signalling lane changes and such which I think is important to prevent getting rear ended by the tailgaters.

I couldn't afford the Guide headlights and don't care for the other options either. I just make my intentions known to oncoming cars by making sure my wheels are turned a lot and that usually gets the message across. [IMG]

A neat little light is the front fender mounted turn signal indicator lights ( originally mounted reversed, facing driver) from late '60'-late 70's mopars. Bright, small, chrome housing that can painted over. CHEAP. mount on frame, or anywhere else that's visable to front. Check 'em out.

  22. Yep - I've with Nimrod here, except don't bother after dark, no-one can see 'em.
Infact most roadusers over here haven't got a clue as to why you're waving you're arms about, but at least they back off because you're obviously a lunatic.
Oh, and watch the roadspray from the front wheel in subzero weather. Last thing you want is wet frostbitten fingers, it can ruin the whole trip...

What are those rear fenders from...???

  24. Would you believe... T?
Bought 4 s**** lacey rear T fenders, and cut the useful bits out of the rear of them.
Just long enough to be ueful in the rain. And snow. And mud. So, pretty much all year round here...

'40 Chevy park lights will bolt on top of A frame rails like they were made for it.

  26. My father had a set of magnetic rear brake/turn signals that he got at U-Haul (designed to be used when towing a vehicle and plugged in like trailer lights). Ugly as **** and not even close to traditional, but he would just pop them on for long trips (they had cloth tape on them so they didn't damage the paint) and as soon as he got there he just took them off and unplugged them... there they were, gone. Easy, cheap, and safe.

For some reason people with these noisy old cars never turn them OFF?!?

    Food for thought…
