My friend needs to lower the front of his 50 Plym. P-19. It has a Nova clip installed under the orig. frame and has more of a g***er look. He's looking to at dropped spindles, but needs about 5". Anyway to get that much and still have a decent ride. Heat, cut springs? They should have stuck clip in frame or went with a Fatman, but too late now. Any help or advice would be appreciated .
    Thanks, Cootieman

  2. Buy spindles and dropped springs. That way you get a spring with the proper weight. Pretty easy to drom one 5"-- 2" springs and 3" spindles.

It's never too late to fix it right.

  4. I have always thought you should fix it till you break it. :D

They are far enough along they are looking to get it down with the least work. I don't think changing the clip at this point is a option.

You will never "still have a decent ride" by heating springs until they collapse.

Dropping it 5" with spindles and springs will put the center of the crossmember nearly on the ground. Not a situation I'd like to have.

That sounds extremely dangerous, and by spending the money on drop spindles and springs, you could be a lot closer to doing it the right way. Not to mention drop spindles and drop springs will most likely put you under scrub line I would think. That is never good no matter how cool it looks.

I think Nova clips are too wide for that Plymouth anyway, so if you lower it , then you can't steer it!
