Hey, type in Eelco he has clamps forsale right now though possibly not in the size you need. Did you ask him before directly?

Cool thread. It is always in the details. Missed this the first go around and enjoyed the read.

    Thanks for the replies.

I havent gone direct to eelco, because after doing a search on here there was quite a few threads coming up with people having difficulties with them.
Being in the UK I could do without any hassle etc.

I'm looking to use them on 5/16 fuel line if that helps.

    Thanks again

The original Jubilee Clip was invented by Commander Lumley Robinson of the British Royal Navy, who was granted the first patent for the device by the London Patent Office in 1921 while operating as a sole trader. It is now subject to a registered trademark in many countries around the world. The design has been copied with many variations, and there are many other hose clips of a similar design.

    Excellent thread!
I agree with Bloody Knuckles--hose clamps are one of the details that makes or breaks an engine bay. Even if you can't take time to find good clamps, at least turn the damn generic ones upside down so the ugly tail is on the bottom and somewhat out of sight!

    Lots of good info here.

Check with '50s and '60s car restoration companies for correct factory hose clamps too... Tri-5 Chevy, early '60s GM, the "tower" style clamps... all of those can be had quickly at places like YearOne, National Parts Depot, etc.

Especially if you're building a late '50s or '60s style car.

Some of those old hose clamps don't work worth a hoot. I have the early style Witeks on my Model A and I have to turn the thumbscrews with pliers to get them to seal the nonpressurized cooling system!

Sorry when I type Eelco I mean Eelco, the original company. Type it in a search on Ebay and you will find some currently forsale by the seller I posted about. I asked if you talked to tuscola2000 directly and if he did not have the 5/16 size you were looking for or if you just did not find a listing? Goodluck in your search.

I use Jubilee brand clips, forget where I got em last, I think eBay. I seem to remember paying like $3-4 for a box of 10.

Granted I do use them on old Vauxhalls so they are "right" for those cars, but they look fine on US stuff as well.

Plus they actually work quite well.

Along with correct looking clamps molded or more correct radiator hoses set off the motor the best,I got tired of looking at the flex hoses on my 37 Chevy p/u and since I am still running a stovebolt bought reproduction hoses and clamps.

  15. Just scored several NOS Wittek thumb screw clamps in sizes for 5/8" heater hose and 1 1/2" radiator hose.
I personaly detest the worm gear clamp and really like the look of the Wittek`s. I have not had any issues with them backing off and you could always drill a hole in the thumb screw part to lock wire them as they did on aircraft.
Still looking for 8 in a size to fit a 3/8" fuel line if anybody has them.

I also collect them when I see them. I'll post a picture of some that I have that are unusual. They are mutli-sized meaning there are adjusting tabs to make them larger/smaller depending on the application. They are also zinc coated. Have many of these for I seemed to run into them at swaps years ago. Recently, I haven't seen them around.

I have a big bucket of NOS clamps with the adjustable tabs like Banjorear has. Radiator hose size. I think I paid almost $15 for the whole bucket.

Playing devil's advocate, are they any good? At first glance, they would seem just like SS band clamps with worm drives, applying pressure unevenly. Since they're "old school" that means they've been superceeded, right? By what kinds of clamps? Anyone got the history of aviation clamps handy? Gary
