Sun tach and transmitter box - Help Needed

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by james1savage, Apr 10, 2011.

  1. Question for those of you more educated than I. I just mounted and wired the Sun 5K football tach and the EB-2 6V 6cyl transmitter . I have a AA battery in the transmitter and have it wired up correctly I believe. But when I connect the + and - from the transmitter to the tach the tach needle immediately pins to above the 5K marking, as far right as it can go (as shown in the attached picture). This is without the engine running. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

I have the transmitter wired as it indicates on the side of the transmitter box. It is connected to ground, the + on the side of the distributor, and the + and - to the tach. Any help you could provide me would be great, thanks.

  7. Thanks for the diagram. I believe I wired it up that way but will double check it tonight when I get home. I'm stumped otherwise.
