Well it's official, I now have the project I have been dreaming off. Some of you may remember my thread about registering a car without a ***le and my concerns. Well the guy I bought it from ended up registering it in NH and obtaining a current reg and bill of sale so I could register it in MA without any issues. Car is a 1950 Ford Custom, 3 on the tree with a 239 flathead V8. The car is all together and all original. From what I was told it was in a barn since the mid 70's, it had some rocker work and floor patching done back in the 70's before parked. Currently the car is not running, the motor seems to have locked up since it last ran before winter, according to the seller. It also needs brakes, tires and exhaust. Hopefully with a little effort I can get the motor spinning and the car on the road for cruse nights this summer. Thanks to everyone for all the help and also the abundance of great info on this site.

Well I figured out why the motor was not able to turn over. After a few hours of wrenching on the '50 today, I removed the upper intake and found two of the cylinders completely filled with water. It looks like the previous owner used Marvels on the motor already as you can see it in the lifter valley. I did notice that some of the valves were stuck open as well, so I'm ***uming that's what he was trying to fix. Going to try and remove the heads tomorrow and see how bad the actual cylinders and pistons look.

But the heartbeat stops when a flathead fires up. Great start to an awesome car.
