Glass removal 48 Ford

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 3hawgs, Apr 13, 2011.

  1. Needing some advice on glass removal. I am at a loss as to how to remove the chrome trim from the windshield without damaging the trim. I took all the inside fasteners and trim off, and I would think the trim would pop off. Not the case. :( I have read some on how to get these off but nothing I have read seems to be the answer. Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you are going to replace the gasket, cut as much of the gasket away inside and out. remove the glass. then remove the chrome by cutting rest of gasket, if necessary. To reinstall - clean lip on the chrome that fits into the gasket really good, wipe some grease on the lip and it should slip into the gasket. I've found that working from the side first then around either the top or bottom corner then top and bottom work good. With grease it will slip into place very easily. Not replacing the gasket, the years of grime etc. has it locked in place. Remove as best as you can and buy replacement chrome.
I've found it on E-bay quite reasonable ever some NOS.
