Don't forget to stash the stem somewhere handy. Never know when you might need some "anger management" when broken down on the side of the road. 420/24/7!!

I had space problems with the tall stainless tubular tanks in my '38 coupe. Ended up using an overflow tank from a Geo Metro. They are a nice compact rectangular tank that fits well in a lot of places. Be sure you get the mounting bracket too which has to be chiseled out of the inner fender panel. That's my idea. Good luck!! Bill

That's a WW2 canteen. The WWI canteens were flat circular ones with tapered edges. Boy Scout canteens were just like WW1 canteens, even earlier, and became like WW2 canteens after a monster purchase of surplus canteens from the government after the war.

I used a large cocktail skaker that looks "beehive-like". Tapped the bottom and plumbed it into the bottom so it recirculates, and welded a bracket to the side to bolt it to the radiator bracket.

the bong deal is funny, but the Man might not think so as he has you spread across the deck lid as he and his dog pilfers thru your ride.
And if he's one of them dirty cops he will already have probable cause to plant something on you that could ruin your day.

I think i would go for something that attracts less attention..
i think an over flow bottle should be outa sight outa mind..

On my c-cab I used to have, I used an old a/c drier from a late 60s skylark. Cut it open and removed the guts. Then welded it back together, Had it powdercoated. Had its own brackets. the lines worked perfectly. I have a spare one. If you are interested, pm me an address and I will send it to you. just pay the freight if it works out ok. Ron

I like the idea of using the old cartridge type oil filter canister. They have their own brackets already, its sort of old looking metal automotive looking stuff, so it'll look like it belongs under your hood. If you're worried about capacity, weld two end to end to make a taller one.

I have one of the Moon 1/2 gasser fuel tank rad puke tanks, uses a regular rad cap. Mmmm... spun aluminum!

  14. I'm certainly no expert on these, but an old timer told me that WW2 Canteens had a Bakelite top, and mine has an aluminum one, its also date stamped 1918. I bought it at a war surplus store in the early 50's and used it when I was in the Boy Scouts, it's not a Boy Scout issue.

I made something similar to that from truck exhaust pipe, capped both ends with a bung I can unscrew and it has an over flow pipe as well.

Here's what PVC pipe looks like when you glue it together and turn it in a lathe. I made an oil/air seperator out of it...

    RIP...

  23. I don't have any pics, but I used an old paint gun ,left the pick up tube in place so it works as a recovery tank. Has a high tech cap, polished alum tank.

Go to ebay and search "vintage or antique tin can" I found some really cool stuff and I'm having trouble deciding which one to choose.

I made mine from a coffee shipping container. At least that is what I was told it is.

My new one...a finely machined aluminum milk shake gizmo which had a 1946 inspection sticker with it. It comes apart in three pieces.

I was thinking on the lines of the one Flamedabone showed on his. on most cars it rather disappears from sight and doesn't draw attention to it's self. A piece of exhaust pipe, two freeze plugs and some left over steel fuel line and you have it done in about a half hour. It would probably take longer waiting for the paint to dry than the time to put it together.

Some of the other ideas are just too cutsie and as someone mentoned Glass overflow bottles don't cut it at the drag strip.
