I bought a visor that i intend to modify to fit my '53. Before I start I'd like to see some examples of cars with exterior visors. Side views would be very helpful for deciding how to mount mine. Here is a very poorly taken pic of my Desoto with the '50 Olds visor mocked up. To me it just doesnt look right(most likely because its meant to fit a '50 Olds) It looks like the car is wearing a baseball cap. I think the front needs to be lower, but what do I know? Lets see what your runnin!
Love those Visors esp on a custom Lower your front and it will look beter and "flow" with the car I think they can make cars look sexy!!
i need to cut some holes in mine,, took 8" out of roof, cant see now and im running red lights left and right.
I know its not the same car but I drilled the lowest hole on the drip rail 12" up from the top of the belt moulding.
I had the Model T frame and had a dude in Ohio make the louver panel for it. I could have done a better job installing it in the frame if I had taken more time on it.
A cautionary tale.I fitted a visor to my Kustom 54 truck, and thought it was the cat's whiskers! Coming back from London one night in a storm the wind tore it off. The next morning I went down to survey the damage (which luckily was very minimal) and the first thing that popped into my head was "why the hell did I put visor on there in the first place, because now it's gone she looks loads better, cleaner". I guess what I'm trying to say is think very carefully before sticking stuff on for the sake of it, particularly with a Kustom, as it's all about flow. I figure (and of course this is purely my own opinion) visors are more of a "bomb/low rider" kind of deal. Best of luck to you whichever way you decide to go Paul
I hear ya. You can only push the envelope so far, some times you just need to know when to step back and say "this'll do" I like visors though. (on some cars)
i,ve taken it off and put it back on more times over the years sometimes i like it and sometimes a don,t
Mine's of the Chevy persuasion as well, but, here's a pic.. Lower the leading edge of yours (a bunch) and I think you might like it! -Dave
Here's an unusual one, a Vision Visor in clear green plexi made in Chicago, bought right here on the HAMB.
here's a Fulton I sectioned about 2 1/2" at the outside tapering to 1" at the center to bring it closer the the contour of the top on my 51 Ford wagon.
