Working on a hot rod with a 32 ford stearing box. I had the thing apart and didn't see anything obvious wrong with it. But I'm not a expert. Its in the car and the wheel moves about 2 inches before anything else does. I've got that adjustment screw turned as far in as it will go. This normal or do I need to start changing parts in that gear box ?

its pretty normal, 2 inches is pretty drivable on these old cars. i think theres a little play in it to make of for the bias tires wandering, also with the big wheels. it might feel horrible but when you drive it, it feels fine.

Yes it's pretty normal. I'd fill the box with Penrite steering box lube.

First go through the adjustments before you accept the play. They are fully detailed in the '32 bulletins, but for online instructions simply steal the '30-31 ones I link here. The boxes are not identical but adjust exactly the same way. The three adjustments affect one another to some degree so run through the sequence a couple of times, easy if the box is in your vise and not under the deuce. Sector and worm end plays, mesh, etc. all are done like late Model A. Consider refitting sector gear as suggested in this article.
Use 140, and unless you are keeping original light switch add a plate to fully close lowere 2-bolt opening.
