....we lifted it onto these tall stands i have so i could better patch the holes in the floor. there were'nt too many real holes in the floor but there was some heavy pitting and after a once over with the wire wheel there were numerous pinholes. so, patches were made and welded in place. i'm almost done with the big patch on the driver side. i even hammered the reinforcing beads back in the patch just cause i'm an anal retentive bastard. i did'nt worry about making them TOO nice though. just so they do their intended job. not like anyone will see them anyway. passenger side i got done saturday and most of sunday was spent watching Springer scrape undercoating from the under side of the floor so we can repaint it and spray new undercoating on it ... well, Mongo WATCHED, i actually helped a little. Mongo was awakened much earlier than he wanted to be (like NOON or something ). we cut him a little slack. i even let him crash out in my spare room for a couple hours. lazy fucker! well, i'll finish welding and grinding on the floor, likely, tommarow, then i'll prepare things for the chop. next weekend the lid comes DOWN!!! then Springer can haul it a little closer to home and work on sanding the body smooth while i do a little repair to the bed and MAYBE even work on my own car ... now i'm just not sure how i'm going to get that cab back down, by myself, so i can work on the top ...
Holy shit this is one popular post Mike. Those pics are awsome. I think there needs to be more of the complicated under coat removeal.
Hey! Look at the picture man I was simultaneously keeping the chair , my beer and the truck frame from rolling away . Thats hard work on a few hours sleep.
i wanted to go with 18" but then i realized the windows were'nt that tall ... we'll cut it at 3" and se how Chad likes it. if he wants more we'll go a bit more. i think between 3 and 4" is gonna be about right.
it was'nt realy as bad as it looks by the huge pieces i cut out but i figured i'd have less welding with the one big patch than i would with several smaller ones. there actually were'nt any holes on the driver side and only two small ones on the passenger side. that was till i hit it with the wire wheel. more pics...
next weekend the lid comes DOWN!!! ...[/QUOTE] work got canceled for sat, if i can get mom to still watch the kids id like to come help with the chop an work on the '59
well, i finished that big patch on the driver side and, believe it or not, i got it down off those stand BY MYSELF. and no i did'nt drop it either. just took a little muscle and a little brain power. were there is a will there is a way i guess they say. check it...
