I'm dropping the frame and some other parts off tomorrow for paint and still haven't decided what color. Stuck to the ol' hot rod theme while collecting parts over the years but haven't nailed down a color yet. Kicked around the flat colors but decided not to go that route, have boiled it down to the three colors below. Obviously a personel choice but thought I'de throw it out there. The only things that are painted are the wheels and intake, flame red. Build info in the facebook page link. Thanks for your input and to the owners of these cars for the pics.
I would go with a blue with OEM sized metallic in it. And since you are running a 409 pick an OEM blue from charts of cars of the era to be era correct. I really don't care to see too many red and black cars. The first thing when I see a red on a '32 anymore is "street beast" kit cars.
Black is a mofo to keep clean, but looks incredible. Red will stand out and grab attention. Blue would be the conservative choice. What does your wife/girlfriend/significant other think?
Thanks guys, Wife don't care thank goodness. There was a coupe I seen a while back on the internet someplace, should have saved it. The blue was called "toolbox blue". It was more of a pastel color slightly darker and a tad grayer then the one shown.
black is awsome but you see alot of it.a darker blue or a dark gray would be a little different....your car
The black looks pretty amazing as it always does, however, I actually like the older mini coopers that have that lighter ice blue on them. That would look amazing with red accents and still have a vintage flare...
My '47 Ford is the original Barcelona Blue. Looks black most of the time and people think it's black except in bright sunlight it looks blue. You could have have black and blue with this shade of blue!
Red and black have been done to point of blaaaaa. The unique motor (409) and color (blue) will set you apart from the herd. Got a stack of mid '80's-2000 'street rod magazines? Red-n-black-red-n-black-ect. What are your wheel/tire option's?
Thanks for your input guys. "Slammed", I currently have the wide white coker bias plys big-littles with red steelies. Sorry i'de post the pic but I'm not on the pc right now. Theres pics on the facebook link on my signature. "Redline", I'll look up that mini-cooper blue.
Black, Navy, Red, Medium Blue, Maroon. No metalics. These are timeless colors. Most any thing else looks dated, or will in a year or so.
Thinking maybe a medium to dark pastel blue with with an off white firewall to go with the wide whites. Wondering about the red wheels and 409 block now?
I think your on the right track... The white firewall always looks good with the whitewalls no matter what color.. just my .02!
dark blue with a pale yellow or cream for the wheels. saw that combo once many yrs ago, and it stood out in a sea of red cars. black looks good when its clean, plus a bear to keep clean. yeah, so would a dark blue, but it would be different.
We don't want no blue Doooces north of the 49th... Actually, I voted blue, although it's pretty hard to mess up a colour choice for a nicely done '32 IMHO. Love that engine!! Don't forget to post pics after paint. -Dave
A nice almost black blue is a great color choice and this is coming from someone who hates blue most of the time.
