I have always loved the aesthetic of older cars and have recently decided to rebuild a 52 Chevy 3100 (5 window, 3 on the tree) truck. Before I went to m***age school i wanted to be a mechanic but I know very litel about cars so this is a learning project. 5 days ago i got a total rust bucket that I fell in love with and took her home. Most of the pieces and parts are there in various states of disarray, and I have 2 216 engines, one i want to rebuild and another in case I jack up the rebuild. For the most part I want to keep it like it came, I'm not choppin it or lowering etc. I was toying with dropping it on a S10 frame for better suspension and disc brakes but I'm still in the planning stage on that. Mostly I am interested in making it mine and being cost effective. Other than the frame issue, I want to put the gas tank under the bed, wider wheels to fill out the extra space, AC because its hot and humid in the summer and am thinking about power steering, and taking out the vent windows on the doors. Anyways, in my quest for knowledge, i have been directed here repeatedly and thought this would be a great place to start. I welcome all tips, hints, suggestions, ideas and advice and look forward to building my baby with help from all your knowledge.
Welcome from Rockmart GA. Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup and Ozelle the '55 Ford send friendly horn honks to you and your Chevy truck. As I get some age on me, I could use a m***age the****** after being on my back on concrete underneath a car. I can crawl under a car as well as I could at 16, getting back up is the challenge.
I have a 50 5 window. You can get a Mustang gas tank that will fit nicely at National Parts Depot for around a $100.00. Good luck with your build and welcome from Michigan.
Welcome Concrete Blonde! Any pictures of this beast so we can point you in the right direction? James
