Always loved the '41 and after 17 years of work I think I may have changed a couple of peoples minds about the original look? 351 W, Top loader 4spd, 9in, VintageAir, Mustang II, Americans

It wasn't SOY, it was HEMP.
Hemp was also what made Levi's legendary.

    The stuff doesn't bust!!!

Have done many 40 coupes but would love to have a 41 coupe-know where there is a gennie black one with very low miles and immaculate in every way but a little pricey-when i was a kid (48-49) our car was a 41 Deluxe convert--loved that car--have pics of it somewhere from back then

Yes, one of the coolest one year style that is overlooked all the time. You pointed out all the damn hot little details that make this sleek baby a knock out. I love em ~sololobo~

Actually it was soy-based plastic. And Ford is wearing a soy-based suit in the photo as well. Henry loved to demonstrate how tough the soy plastic was to visitors to the Ford plant. But one day he went out and took a swing in sub-zero temps and it broke. He was so mad (and embarrassed) that he stopped development of soy-based plastic body panels.

My uncle had a metallic blue '41. He let me drive it once. My aunt almost had a heart attack because he never let anybody drive that car. It was nice. Last time I saw it was in Arizona before he sold it.

Things change with time, don't they? And the scarcity of old cars. When I was in high school (mid-fifties) most boys drove Fords, and they would rather have been seen kissing their sister than driving a '37 or a '41 Ford, both considered ugly ducklings back then. But then also, the Nash garage crushed a splendid '31 A coupe because no one would pay the $25.00 for it, so it's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?

"the BLUE STREAK TAXI". spent many long nights, money, and busted knuckles getting this thing drivable. my first build and introduction to this addicting hobby. traded it for a custom '76 vette, stupid me.

I have had three friends with '40s. They just thought I was crazy when I said there was nothing wrong with '41s.

Thing is, it's like trying to appreciate a '58 Chevy when it's sitting next to a '57. Ya know? IF anyone just looks at the '41 ON ITS OWN MERITS and without immediately using the '40s as a yardstick for comparison . . . THEN the '41 looks pretty cool, indeed.

Yeah, I love the '40, just like I like the Duece. But the '33 and '34s are pretty keen in their OWN right. Comparison has use BUT also a downside. Each car deserves an OBJECTIVE evaluation.

Dad bought this one when he came back from WWII and it was the car that I came home from the hospital in.

that is really right on.. i think the 41 looks a little "flat" on the front and the two little side grilles take away from the simplicity of the 40 center "beak" grill. . . but hey if you dig them then thats cool. A well done one will still stop me in my tracks. The plymouths from this year are really growing on me.

I really do like the 41's! But as said, If I had my choice between a 40 or a 41, I'd take the 40.
