My dad and I were out yesterday looking for some odd and end parts to finish up my '51 Fleetline v-8 / auto swap (avatar) , and we stopped to look at a '74 g.t.o. that a guy is wanting to trade my dad for some guns , well the car was at a guys house and he was a car guy, and we asked him if he had any old cars , he said "yea , a couple" and he opened his garage , he was restoring a 409 powered '61 Impala conv. , but , what I saw was much more appealing , in the corner , there was a '41 Dodge panel truck , complete , I inquired about the chance of obyaining it , and it is obtainable , it's out of California , so the rust is at a minimum , and it's complete , he's asking $4200.00 , is this a decent deal? , I would think so , and there's a chance I can do some trading on a motorcycle I have , what do you guys think?
If it something you want go for it. The price sounds fair .A friend of mine just traded a ironhead sporster and some cash for a 50 Chevy sedan delivery . A 41 Dodge panel is not some thing you would find every day.
..............................................................................................................................going by your name and some of the previous threads we have been on. I really dont think the Quote really matters to anyone but the quotidian. It would make a killer tail dragger.
That is an awesome panel. If you like it and have the bucks, jump on it.Very rare and endless possibilities !! Doesn't look like you would have to spend the rest of your life rebuilding the sheetmetal so that's a real bonus! MHO
Buy it ! Its one of the few vehicles you can put in your garage & still have a ton of storage space while you work on it !
Price seems high to me for what I see in the pic, is it complete? all front end and chrome, is the chrome in good shape, will it run - even if youre planning a complete drivetrain swap its nice to have a runner to know that most things work. Could be a really cool project, slammed, depends on what you want or what you want to use it for.
damn if it was closer to me id go for it if you didnt!!! narrowed 9, 440 727. WOW . i just happen to have them goodies layin around here.man id go for it. dont see many and how cool are panels.!!
Go for it dude! Finding anything "complete" now adays is a rarity. Obtaining all the missing pieces is an unpleasant fight in most cases and adds plenty to the cost of the project in both time and dollars. Complete and usability can be two different things. Perfectly suitable for a hot rod, if you have heard otherwise, a quick check into their post history should reveal how much weight their opinion might carry.
I'm new here but not to old trucks. If the body is 90 percent and everything is there I'd jump on it. Saying that, a couple more pic's would answer any questions. If you like it then work a trade, through in some cash and get it home.
Two words...."push truck". Build it old school as a push truck, vintage style lettering, fill it with vintage speed **** and cruise.
Nice truck and would make a nice streetrod, daily driver or traditional rod no matter what Mister know-it- all thinks. Wouldn"t have caught your attention if you didn"t like it.Much rather have that than the 74 GTO. wHAT KINDA BIKE YOU TRADING?
You don't see those everyday. I think it would be very cool. I saw this one forsale in Lake Elsinore California when I was there. Looks like it was used as a shed of something!
It is always nice when a photo of a finished car or truck in added to a thread. I've always thought a '30's- '50's Panel truck would be a great Flea Market parts hauler and camper. The asking price sounds fair, rust free California vehicle close to home sounds like a deal to me.
Yup, what he said. It'd be pretty cool and guarens there wouldn't be another one like it at a show. Just don't put a 350/350 in it. Too boring. Maybe a 413 with a cross ram and a hemi 4speed behind it.
Who you trying to please? It's you car & your money do it to your likings & screw the rest. Feed them cake is what the queen said. If the shoe fits wear it. Get balls & be differant sure would be boring if we all did the same thing. I guess what I'm trying to say is If ya like it go for it. I've seen lots of one off that don't fit the mold & are very nice. One of the nicest one that comes to mind was seen at the nationals in 2000. Yellow dodge C O E owned by a dentist. Side opened out for catering hotdogs & such. Damn C R S can't remember what he called it. Docs Dogs or something like that comes to mind. There was always a crowd around it.
Since when? And did you know that not EVERYONE has to do a Ford with a Chevy 350 in it? I think that the Dodge is an AWESOME vehicle to rod. I have seen too many of the "regular" Ford and Chevy rods and it is a refreshing thing to see Dodges brought into the mix. They get more looks than the average Ford rod....not to insult Ford rods.
