inside corners of the cab are a good place, can build slim sub boxes under the seats depending on what youre using, kick panels, dash, door panels.

Let us know what your working with, completely stock interior? whats you appetite for modification.

  3. I put a stereo in a 68 Mustang and mounted the speakers under the front seats.
The owner was amazed at the sound it produced. I have also mounted speakers under the dash and pointed down. Don't cut your interior panels to install speakers.
On some pickups I have built small boxes and mounted the speakers behind the front seat (depends on if you have the in-cab tank).

You can put a pair of 4" side-by-side in the stock dash location and there's more than enough room to cut a pair of 6x9's into the doors.

  5. Speakers in doors have a really good sound if they have some room around the speaker itself. Providing of course, you don't mind hacking (read: cutting) your doors.

I'd go along with putting a pair of 4 inch speakers behind the stock speaker grill but hate to see them in holes chopped in the doors. Build or buy some boxes to go in the cab corners or if you have moved the gas tank build a box that goes all the way across behind the seat and you have room for speakers and a couple of cubbyhole boxes to stash stuff in out of site.
Someone is selling preformed fiberglass or plastic kick panel boxes for pickups with speakers that I saw at the Portland Roadster show. I think those were about 200 a pair.

Not the ones as his were custom molded but take a look here http://www.taymanelectrical.com/kickpanel.htm

I put some 6" speakers in the kick panels on my truck. It sounds ok, but theres not much bass so when I turn it up while on the highway it's kind of crappy sounding. I'm going to put 6x9"s in their place and put the 6" speakers under the seat soon. I need to put some sound deadener in the kick panels also.

My wife has a 55 2nd series and I built boxes for the 6 by 9 so they stand vertical in the cab corners, just make sure you get quality speakers.

I had good luck placing them under the seat, facing forward; The sound reflected off the angled part of the floorboard, direct to my ears. 4t

Negative. I run a year of manufacture plate. In my case, '55 farm truck plate on the rear. You have to keep the real plate inside the vehicle. So, in a way, I am fooling the police. They can't get any info from a dead 56 year old plate on the back of the truck, lol. :D But still legal.

Yes, it still has th gas tank behind the seat (and behind the mdf with speakers).

  17. My solution in my 63 Ford, formed aluminum kick panels that still allow the vents to work and a subwoofer/center console.

In my AD pickup, I have 2 4'' in the stock location and 2 4X10's facing forward in the seat riser.

I removed my stock tank and have a pair of speakers in mdf boxs behind the seat with a separate sub woofer under the seat itself (bass is non directional).

With an ipod and a small amp it is good enough for me.
