These cars are next to the speedway in Newport, TN. The sign says they are for sale. I've got the double whammy of no cash and no place to put 'em, so I'm out of the game. But these certainly look savable. I don't know who owns them and don't know what it would take to get them. But be advised, the whole time I was shooting these photos I could hear dogs barking, big dogs!
Theres a race track by the junk yard where I live as well, and I'm in the same boat as you. No money and no place... yet!
You can tell they really want to sell those cars. Look at how detailed they are! Freshly waxed. Windows nice and clean. All the tires are full of air! I bet they sell the front row every week.
There was a junkyard like that outside of Reading Pa.The prices were crazy and he never sold anything, until one day the Sheriff made him. Most were nice when they were parked but they were junk when they were sold at public auction. It is neat to see an old junkyard.
This is what I was thinking ^^^^ " If the prices were anywhere near reasonable, they wouldn't still be there" BEWARE - This guy watches 'Barrett-Jackson' Auctions on ''the movin' picher box'' !!!
Newport is the hometown of NASCAR legend and lifelong hot-rodder, L. D. Ottinger. He was 2-time national Late Model Sportsman Champion. Now in his 70's, he's still building some outstanding cars.
Very interesting!! Some nice stuff there, looks like they could lose a lot of smalls there. Hope some get back into action. ~sololobo~
I'm bumpin' this back to the top in case any of you East Tennessee-S.W. Virginia cats might be interested in this vintage tin......Don.
