I Need A Yard Guy Newbies OK! Job Offer

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by desertratrodder, Apr 11, 2005.

  1. No not one of those jockeys or a gardener.
I need someone who can live out at my car lot for free lodging, if you can work pulling cars apart, you get paid for that too. If you are willing to work, you will be making decent $$.
Can be an apprenticeship type deal for a youngster. You will be living in my car lot in the desert. You will be alone out there, unless you bring a friend. I will have basic quarters, with water and power. Not a house. motorhome or mobile to start.
You are going to be the security at night. I can get dogs for you to help out.
It is going to be fenced off.
I want a car guy to do this, I know its OT but I cant find anyone out here thats not a crack head. A good opportunity for a good worker, or someone willing to learn.
Email me at Rayscl***icfords@adelphia.net with a contact or for more details.
I need to get someone within the next month.

Funny how it is, Ray. Tweakers will take anything apart. They never put anything back together though. But for some strange reason, you can't make parts pullers out of them. If it's a job, they don't want to take anything apart. They want to organize and reorganize the tool box. Good luck, man.

  4. Phil,
There is the reason I dont need a tweaker doing this...
I finally got rid of most of the tweakers in the area that were pilfering, but now, I need to put more valuable stuff out there, and cant risk it running away. If someone is around all the time, that **** comes to a halt. Its when you can go out only once a week or so, when stuff comes up missing.
    Also,
I would like to get all the **** out of my back yard, and work over there.
thats why the place was purchased.
    No tweakers need to apply.
Really a good opportunity. I will give $$ details through private correspondence.
    Ray

It would sweeten the deal for a lot if you could get high speed internet to that trailer. And you should throw in a mean old dog too. But I suppose I should keep my engineering job.

hey man...i'll ask around in my neck of the woods...i'm pretty near desert anyway, anyone in my area will think nothing of it...but, if you're worried about stuff disappearing...wouldn't you want someone that DOESN'T know jack about cars?

a tweaker is a speed freak...and in the deserts of Cali, they seem to be the majority population....

  11. this is the perfect job for Evil Ed - he has been around for ever and has forgot more than most guys know. Not sure of his living conditions now but he may want to do this. PM me a number and I can get you his. Problem with getting a young guy is he will get bored out there and that could be trouble. other problem is he will hopefully want to move up in life and start a family and such can't do that living in a yard hut.

A tweaker is one who is f'd up on Meth. you have them in Florida...they are everywhere.

    heres some reference...

desertratrodder is a good guy - he was very patient with me on some parts baught awhile back, when time came to actually pull the parts, we used his tools... a patient employer is a good one.

he seems mentaly stable and knows his Fords. :p

I need a summer gig and I've always wanted to go to California. Let me piss off the wife so she can kick me out (maybe getting 'caught' going to Expose' or somethin'). I need to quit-this is actually starting to sound like a good idea...

I've got the perfect guy for you. I emailed him your post and have him get back to you if he is interested. Honest, hardworking, stand up guy that knows and loves old cars....I suppose working on your own stufff in your free time at the yard would not be a problem?

I've been out there folks, it's one hell of a view, it's the raw desert with an outstanding sight of the mountains in the distance. Nice place if you like being away from it all, there's not m***ive lots of houses all over the place like there is in palmdale.. If it was 10 years ago, i'd take you up on it ray...

  16. Ray, jus emailed ya bout the job.

    stay sick..

  17. Thanks MOJO and PLAN9 for the props.
To reiterate the first post, Its free lodging, and cash if you want to work.
the work would entail pulling parts, not on demand, but dismantling whole cars one at a time one after another. They will be the same type, so you will get it down. Alot of late model stuff, as well as old cars.
Also, there will be cars to be picked up or delivered. I will supply a truck and trailer, if you have tools, bring them.

Basically a yard guy type of deal. we can hash out details later. Alot of guys have responded with alot of hands on and fab experience, etc.
I would like a guy like you, but I dont think youd want a deal like this. I might be wrong.
This is not an established shop, I do not do auto repair, the only cars I build are my own, this place is for pulling cars apart for internet sales and overseas buyers.
When replying, please indicate the $$ you need so that gets out of the way. I am not rich, but will pay a man what hes worth.
    Thanks, Ray.

I just want to add my own props for Ray. I met him at the March Meet Swap meet last year, a real nice dude. But he couldn't find me at the Viper Pit so, I'd double check his directions with Mapquest, that's a BIG desert.
