    Hello all,

I decided to maybe get rid of my old 63 Rivi, to help fund a 30's Chevy truck project, and as I was starting to move it around today, I noticed this old badge on the console, that I had forgot about.

It was probably a very common thing, but I just thought I'd run it past you all, did most Riviera's come with these badges?

(Sorry if the pics are a bit large, did a last minute resize in photobucket, and my browser cache isn't updating to see if they look decent.)

In the Sixties, Buick, Olsmobile, and Cadillac had a dealer option of "premium delivery package". This was an option that the dealer could order with the car that included those plates, a special keyring, and a gold plated set of keys. Those "dealer options" never showed on the factory sticker.

The plates were shipped loose and engraved by the local jeweler or trophymaker once the dealer knew who bought the car. I sold a lot of cars with those packages, as our dealership ordered it on almost every Buick, Olds, or Cadillac we got in. It increased our gross about $15 per car, and it increased the customer loyalty and pleasure with the delivery a lot.

Thank's for the replies everyone. DustyBarnfinds, interesting info, much appreciated.

Dirt Diggler, yeah that would be sweet, but unfortunately, my luck is never even close to anything like that, lol.

My 64 Riv came with the order form to get that tag if you wanted it. I guess it was one of those things that were put in the glove box in case you changed your mind at the dealer.

  10. I think it's based on what the 1953 Skylarks had, which was the horn ****on plastic said the same thing "Built Expressly For so-and-so" in them.

The two Rivieras I've pulled stuff out of didn't have one, but it looks like it's just glued on so even if it was there it could have fallen off.

53 Buick Skylark's put a note in the horn center hub (clear Plastic) with special made and then the owners name. Iceman
