I have a Ford 302 with an Edelbrock carb on it.It was running just fine 4 years ago. I had to let it set as life got in the way. I brought it home this weekend, fixed the fuel line and with a little fresh gas and a battery, it fired right up. Heres the problem, if I stomp on it, especially in gear, it seems to flood the engine and it takes forever for me to get it to smooth out and run right again. Is this called carburetor flooding? When the engine was running smooth again, I checked under the hood, manually operated the throttle, and it looked like fuel was literally pouring into the engine. What would cause this, and how do I remedy it?
Sounds like there's either too much fuel pressure, float out of adjustment, or needle and seat issue. I'd get a rebuild kit and clean her out. then you can put it back together using their specs in the instructions so you'll know she's all good to go.
