my photoshop is acting up. can someone work some magic for me. My car is a mordoor but this is close enough. I was thinking black with the flaked red roof or Dark grey metallic with silver or black flaked roof. Thanks! Have fun
Body- Black w/ big gold flakes, creme colored scalops ( not to gaudy), White vinyl top, Astros w/ skinny whites, on the ground. White guts and black carpet. Bitchin'
the guts are red with a black rug. Im kinda changing my mind midway through the project. I was heading more for a rockasilly thing. And the HAMB saved me..
Yea they do. Throw a 60's dragger paint scheme it would be even better. But its not what I want. Maybe I should have spelled custom with a K Thanks for the lowering job Hatch. Just need someone to throw some paint on it.
Hmm maybe someone can skallops this for me. I really really suck at skallops. I can barely photochop too but you know.
Yeah, I figured you meant "K"ustom. I just carried away in my own dreamland for a minute, please forgive me...now back to your regularly scheduled thread!
I'm going to be a complete dick here. Have you considered selling your car and buying one from the 50's? Lakes pipes on a car from the 60's??? Geez, if you're going to build a "60's custom", don't do 50's tricks on a 60's car. I don't think "rat rod flat black" was ever a 60's show winner either. Study up or you're going to end up with a ridiculous ol' skool clown car that anyone with a sense of history or taste will laugh at. Just being honest, dude. What you have on your hands is Mom's car circa 1963. Ed
Hey Edmurder Thats a gloss black. not flat black. If you do not approve of my plans feel free to do something in photoshop to make it better. If you have nothing creative to add or to assist then simplely move along. I really dont need people telling this is looks stupid or shitty. This is your chance to step up and give me ideas or suggestions. So either step up or step off.
If I wanted a Gasser I would have titled the thread make me a Gasser.. Were there no customs in the 60s?? I guess the HAMB has been finally stumped.
Lose: the lakes, the skirts, the Moon discs... Add: chrome wheels, 4 lug spiders (if ya can find em), skinny whites, and flake the roof. And don't forget to add some striping.
Thanks Scot. Lakes are gone, skirts are staying only because they cost me a ton. Other then that I just need color combo's I have a red interior with a black rug. Im working on the rims or at least some kinda cool caps. And lowering it ..
edmurder's right. Skirts sometimes look good on some cars up until about 1954. Just because you made the mistake of paying a ton for those skirts, it doesn't mean you have to compound that mistake by actually using them. Sell em on eGay. Go get yourself a copy of Andy Southard's "Hot Rods and Custom Cars of the 1960s". It's a wealth of information on what customs actually looked like in the 60s. You won't see any moredoor compact sedans in there, but there is ample inspiration that is applicable on just about any make or model. Just please, please get rid of the skirts...
I agree with Scot and Red. Andy's books are great inspiration. A custom doesn't have to have skirts. Flaking the roof is a nice custom touch. Here's one I threw together. Adds some scallops and yer done. But I still say lose the skirts.
Maybe with the skirts you could go in a lowrider direction??? Lace paint with nekkid senoritas and all. Theme for Shaft blaring out the speakers! Just another thought.
Keep the skirts, drop it down low, 60s caps on the front. Deep metalflake paint (blue/green on the bottom, silver up top), white furry headlining!
I realy like the photoshopp that "deadender60" did of your car but stock height with the skirts looks kinda weird on your car... I have skirts on my car and I like the way my 60 bel air looks with the skirts on it and laying flat on the ground ... you can only see an inch of wheel showing in the back of it when I lay it down and about 2 inches maybe when I put it at drive height
Lobuck... I can see where people are at with the skirts, but frankly I like 'em. I think the challenge with any car that stretches the envelope a little is to find those touches that "fit" the era but at the same time do something a bit unexpected. Most folks are gonna dog it a bit because it is a Nova 4 door but we all start where we start and it is an economical car that you have and you are looking to put your stamp on it. It is going to be cool if it has something that sets it apart and still respects the road behind it. True
Thanks! I have the same problem, I want to get my Lincoln lower, but can't afford putting the bags right now... darn it! A couple of my buddies are urging me to bag it, so we might try to do it before Paso, we'll see how that goes. The first picture is what it looks like, and the second is what I want it to look like....
True, One of the reason I bought the Nova was to be a little different. I wanted to stretch the envelope some. I got a few good ideas and got my skin toughen a bit. I like the photochop that deadender did. But we''ll see where it goes.
