I'm thinkin'......HAMB Drags! That's the ticket. You gave 'er hell! Nothing like some deep 'bonding' moments with your hotrod. You'll be ridin' shortly and be able to hit the road with confidence, enjoy the ride.
Deadline suck....in fact they suck the fun right out of Hot Rodding. However they are a necessary evil for some of us to get our cars on the road in a timely fashion. All you need to know is that it WILL be on the road very soon and through your trials and tribulation, and that you have inspired us all. We'd all be very fortunate to take a little of this build with us and apply it to our own cars. What I have learned is that we are capable of some pretty crazy stuff and can push ourselves pretty far when a goal is set. 3dnsouth is right. HAMB DRAGS!!!!!
Kathy – I did not see this thread until now and was wondering why I did not see Tuffy in any of the pictures from the LSR. Disappointed is an understatement on how you must have felt after such a tremendous effort you made to get Tuffy ready. You amaze me with your abilities and talents. <O</O So glad that you were not hurt doing your fast burnout backwards – that makes my stomach do flips thinking about it. At least you made it to the Roundup – my regret is not being there to give you a hug for your gallant efforts.<O</O <O</O See you next year at the Roundup when Tuffy is “on the hill”.<O</O XOXO<O</O
Even though i came up short as well you inspired me to get off my arse and hammer away at the old cabrio. The show just swelled my desire to get back home and continue hittin it and I'm sure we will see each of these fine old rods at events yet to come this summer. hell of a save on the reverse, been there with much different results. Relax, take a deep breath, asses where your at and then enjoy that first drive, the car will return the effort a million fold...Duece reunion better get ready!
Scary stuff for sure! I'm glad you and Tuffy are both ok. Like I said a couple weeks ago on LOTH, take your time to do it right, we all can wait Now get some rest. I know what a toll those thrashes take on a girl!
Kathy, as has been said over and over, you are amazing and the car is awesome. Settle back and catch your breath. You deserve a break. Did you resolve the exhaust manifold problem? .
Hi Kathy. I was just checking in on you and Tuffy. Like an idiot, I missed the meet and greet, so I did not get a chance to shake your hand. Whadaya' say? HAMB drags???
H-O-L-Y S-H-I-T!!!! I just went thru both threads!!!!!!....Kathy.... You kick SERIOUS Butt! You make me smile and remind me why this place is so great. Watching in AWE from Palookaville.
Thanks for all the kind words - really! I took a breather for a few days, let my body heal, and slept 12-14 hours a day for a week. Once I got the trans off and could get a good look at the rear main seal I could see that it was leaking - bummer. So I put a new rear main seal in. Decided to try a rope seal since the special neoprene I got from Hotheads had spun 90 degrees on me? Waiting on parts and taking my time!
Blushing now! I really wanted you to sign my Roundup Poster but was too shy to ask! That is Norm Jones in the center isn't it?
Keep chuggin.. Kathy... I keep checking your thread for updates!! I'm so busy in the office for the next week and a half that I don't have time to think about the T coupe!! But I'm setting a new goal of Salina KS for the show I drive it to!!!
HA! Yea,... that is the King O Texas Hisself!...Love that Normee.... And the other is the Duke of Wellington, Flat top Bob! Kathy,....No need to get huffy with Tuffy....... It will all jell. Real inspirational thread.
Tim, this is how that works with Ty. He can ride bulls and do team roping but I can't scare him! Thanks Jeff. Norm is my modern day super hero! In my eyes, he should have a cape! Gary, I'm getting rested up, watching Piero's Mad Fabricator DVD's and waiting for a part to put it back together. I am not sure that the pressure plate was the problem, although I bought a new one. The input shaft was binding in the crank hub, which is now why I think the rear main seal let go. When I shortened it originally I didn't take into account the Wilcap spacer hub with a built in bearing (I was thinking I would have the crank drilled for a bearing). It went together well and I never went back and checked it. Lesson learned! And I need to respray the front of the frame - got scratched up when we pulled the motor.
So I just responded to the video of you almost backing into the garage, but I will tell you here too, your work is amazing. You have solved problems that people wouldn't have solved in years, and you spent mere months on it. You did so much work yourself, and you kept a smile throughout the whole build. You are amazing. I also must say something about "Tuffy" (which is what I think they should call you). This car is an inspiration to me, I only knew of that little, old snapshot but man... whoo.. You have done very well and you should be very proud. No failure allowed. Take all the time in the world, you deserve it.
Congrats on the first drive albiet a short one. Keep pluggin at it Kathy. I'm still trying to get other things sorted so I can get back on mine. I'll definitely have to drive out to Texas so my coupe can meet Tuffy. Who knows maybe they know each other.
Its been awhile now....tsk..tsk...if your not going to finish it, maybe I should show up with a trailer? I've been waiting way to patiently for you to finish my favorite duece on the planet!
LOL! Oh, it's twue. It's twue. It's twue, it's twue! Sorry guys, I left you like a Saturday Matinee Cliff Hanger. My real job is killing me - 72-84 hours a week and 3 days off since Roundup! I did get the clutch and pressure installed and the engine/trans are ready to go back in. I tried to touch up the frame paint but I'm not happy with it, so I will have to respray it. If nothing changes I will get to play next week!
You know those pipelines running through your neighborhood?? Yup that's me controlling them. It pays well but high stress!
Good morning Kathy, just thought I'd knock the dust of this thread lol, haven't heard from you in a while, hope you're doing fine, Hey, hows Tuffy coming?
