thinking about running a pair of 29x12.5x15 wondering how they handle on the hiway

 

They work great,been running them for around six years.Not a lot of miles yet but the few have shown good traction. ROY.

 

probably depends on how wet the highway is.

 

Jim;they actually work decent in the rain,especially for a wide tire.They are fairly sticky[soft]so I don't know how many miles you will get from them. ROY.

 

I've got a set on my OT firebird in a smaller size. They're a REALLY soft rubber compound-I think the same compound as the M/T slicks. You won't get many miles out of them. They're also a "wrinkle-wall" design. They work OK in a straight line, but the sidewall will roll under in the turns. Think about this: would you run bias-ply drag slicks on the highway?

 

Had them on the Nova for years. They work great. The highway is no worries. They will flat spot on ya if they sit for a while. Nothing a good meltdown won't fix. Be aware of how much pressure you run. They will wear out fast in the center if you have to much. Also with too much you really won't get much of a contact patch when your making a p***. I usually run between 15 and 18lbs in the Nova, lower if I'm racing. You'll find the sweet spot after a good burnout, especially if the center is worn more. Every car I have had them on seem to want different pressure levels. I'm not sure if you can get the "i" pattern any longer, but those I had the best luck with.

I run them on the rear of the t-bucket....so far so good

 

i've run the ET Streets for years- 28x 12.50 15s on an 8 inch rim with a heavy car, and i never did any corner carving, but never had them bother me one bit-except rain-they're just like a slick in the rain.

But as far as a ballooney tire on the street?- i'd run 20lbs daily, then 13 to race. 4100lb car.

Been running them on the back of my OT Camaro for over 20 yrs., and just put a new pair on last year. Running MT Sportsmans on my 1946 Austin 29.5x12.50x15 also. Both cars handle well, but nothing with any power will hook up in the rain. I have to be careful shifting to not break loose and get sideways. The Austin even more so than the Camaro.
They do work just fine traveling down the road in the rain though.

I ran 29x12.5x15 sportsman pros on my old street car , it was a low 11 sec car and they were great even with a spool , sportsmans don't hook up but last forever, sportsman pros hook but won't last as long , i found that Hoosier quick times hooked well but started to perish in the sidewall pretty quickly ,
