Well, I thought it would be there forever as I used to work for the farmer that owns the land and this was all mine for the taking. I have slowly over the years gone up there for parts I needed. These pics are from the past years of going up. Got the dash out of the 36, and the 39 fords. That was last year. Now, after going up to grab the steering column and wheel from the 39 and the F-1, I find a vacant area of woods, and farm land that looks like nothing was ever there. I didn't even want to take a picture. It is about a half mile walk back and over a hill, my heart sank when I got to the top. The farmer fell on some hard times and a s****per who hunted the land got it all and took it all. Other ****py thing was I fought for about two hours to get the box and wheel out of the F-1 and got the pitman arm pulled, the box unbolted from the frame and dash but couldn't pull it through the floor because of the exhaust. I thought, oh well, I'll get it in the spring. Stupid me for not getting the stuff sooner.
I hate stories like this, but sad reality is its happening all over the US. If you know of something laying in the weeds somewhere........get it. Next time I go back to get some parts or try buy a farmers car I would rather have someone who is gonna do something with it have it than a s****per.
Man, that ****s. But I've always thought that if I ever found one of those, I'd loot the **** out of it the first time.....like I was on the damn ***anic, man....
There was a steel supply up in Richmondville NY, had about a hundred cars, you could see from the road in the winter, and barely see if you knew they were there in the summer, mostly late 30's early 40's 4 doors. I went up and asked if I could walk through one time when I was up there in the winter the owner allowed me, slipped and fell on my *** got soaked figured I would back in the warmer weather the next time I went up they were all gone, they were locked in between trees everything was cleared don't know where but all gone and property cleared business is still there
dont wait for tomorrow or it may not arrive , if you have a free p*** grab it if you dont need it or cant take it all help a hamb brother and spread the wealth save as much as you can cause hard times are here and the s****pers and meth heads are junking our favorite resources
Yeah I didn't want people to be hounding the ole man Gordy about it so I just never told anybody other than my buddy and he thought the drive was too long - about 3 1/2 hours north. I wanted to grab that 34 chev four door body sooooooo bad I just never had the right vehicle up there at the time. It was missing the doors and alot of the body on the other side and I was going to hang it on the side of the garage. The strangest part was seeing nothing, no trace of anything ever beeing there. Next time I go up to visit my aunt and uncle, maybe I will take a pic.
Their getten them all man nothings safe. When you find something. Get them home and hored them fast. else they dont stand a chance.
They would still be there if you made it worth his while. BUY something every trip or help around the farm. make it worth HIS while to overlook them and shut his wife up. The supply is FINITE. Cash and favors make it worthwhile and pay decent prices. I never give less than $20 for a part and am picking off some of the same carc***es since 1968,in the woods.
Man that stinks. Like has already been said, anything sitting around old gets the chopping block first these days. It's very rare to find something sitting worth a darn around here anymore. And then the owners always claim they're going to restore it. But that stuff always ends up s****ped once the state takes over the estates. LOL
Man that ****s!!!! I hate the s****pers and the EPA. Why can't they leave timeless pieces of history alone? I think my signature below says it all!!!!!
I can't tell you how many tin mines I've seen s****ped out in the last 50 years. The worst (for loss) one was a lot of about 400 cars with the newest being 1940 and 80+% were Fords. This was so far back in the boondocks that the only road there was so overgrown you could barely make out the tracks, over a mile from the nearest regularly used road. I had been goin there for years, sometimes just to walk around and let the old hulks talk to me (some of you will know what I mean). Last trip there EVERYTHING was gone save for a pile of broken gl*** where they parked the crusher. Frank
I am facing the same problem right now with a '39 in my town that I dont need, but is being threatened for the s****
I blame myself for not getting up there more, and I should have told him not to s**** it but I thought this stuff wasn't going anywhere.
That's how people lose their wives, they just think they will always be there waiting till you are ready and then one day, ****, they're gone. Seen it happen before. If it's something you want and appreciate, you better let 'em know.
