I got this roadster pick up about 3 months ago and its my first build .. I purchased the car from a gentle men up here in nothern california and he (nor I) were 100% sure on its make .. When i got the car and began working on sanding the 1/4 of bondo off i noticed a vent that was sealed up on the driver side cowl along with the gas tank hole..I was thinking its a 30 31 sedan cowl with a pick that had its top cut off behind it . But an old timer came in today and told me it could be a murray or briggs ... Im just some hack kid bumbling through my first build so thanks for the resposes to all my ignorant questions .. with out this site and your guys help i wouldnt even be this far ..
I'm pretty sure you have a very early 1928 Ford Model A Fordor cowl made by Briggs. The later 1928 and 1929 cowls were identical except they didn't have the vent on the drivers side. See link below: http://www.abarnyard.com/corral/60a-1.htm
yup... that's an early Briggs... i've got an early 28 Briggs cowl and a Murray cowl... other than the vent they're pretty close to identical. really dig the lines on them. should look good as an RPU...
I like that too...very different. Excellent idea for a Rdstr P/U! Hope you can find a Model A frame...those 'T' rails are a little narrow... I have some 'T' rails I set up awhile back, made some cowl hoops and have the beginnings of a 1-man sprinter! So don't throw 'em away, just save 'em for the next project!
Thanks for the encouraging words ...Who ever owned it before i did channeled it and resessed the fire as you can see ..Im wondering if has any history ... I was thinking of starting a thread if i people were intrested ..
thats a hell of a recess on the firewall... it'd look cool with a radically set-back straight 6 in it... building it as a lakes modified? drag-style? lots of options...
funny you say that. I got a 170 ci ford for super cheap for it ..you can actually see it in the background ..I dont want to run it too set back im 6 feet tall so id like to keep some leg room in it .. It would be getting pretty tight if i were to keep it that far in ..
Here is a picture of my next project and I wasn't sure which body I had now I know. The only thing that was done is splitting the body in the center to make the Duval windshield fit to the body. Thanks Frenchy
