  7. I have seen people build cars with a lot worse parts.

The cab and doors are okay, but the floor is shot which was fixable, didnt need the cab, couldnt sell it on craigslist for a 100.00 so up in a tree it went :D It looks like a good truck body till you walk up to it. My kids will tell there grand kids about this. End the end all there is memorys anyway:D
The main dude of the HOA liked it, we disscused it over Beer and Crawfish;)

Yeah...'Home Owners' ***ociation'. A group of conformists that set rules for you regarding your 'home' you finally bought, which will never be yours.
We bought a house 16 years ago, in a small town, but it's COUNTY. (not city)
No HOA, but twice some county workers came out and wanted to 'take a look' in the yard. I said "no."
My neighbor has a '67 Karmann Ghia in a tree. Right in the side yard, just off the street.
Doors still work, his daughters use it as a tree house. Looks real cool at night, the lights are wired up to a 12 volt transformer...

Very cool. Your kids will remember the old truck in the tree for the rest of their lives. I live in a HOA cookie cutter house neighborhood. Biggest mistake of my life. I will never do it again.

That's pretty rad, man! Good job. My kids would freak if they had something that cool to play in/on.

Cool, Dad! No worries about the "wasted good" parts...30-40yrs from now, some Hamber will see it, and post a "monkey-bar find".

    (LOL) :D Monkey Bar Find:p

YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF:rolleyes:

If I had some wide whites it would have had some. All I had was some free front tires and some Old N50's, punched out the moon disk at work on a punch.
ANYBODY GOT SOME BALD WIDE WHITES IN THE HOUSTON AREA:eek:

That's awesome-great job!!! And you're right, of course- the kids will never forget it.

Where I live is on 31 beautiful, wooded acres in the southern Tennessee country- I am the HOA. 13 'extra' cars right now. 4 different kinds of trailers, horses, pond, outbuildings, etc. I can't see anybody else's house from mine, even in winter. Nobody can even see my house unless they make it the first 2000 feet down my driveway- or from the air.

As long as I live, I never intend to ask anybody else's opinion on whether this is a good color for my shutters and trim. My brother in law deals with this **** all the time. His $600K+ home is no more than 20 feet from the people's next door. Why do folks knowingly move into neighborhoods like these?!

that is flat-out cool, i wish i had a truck in a tree when i was a kid. its not a waste of parts if your kids get the coolest tree house in the neighborhood, it is your parts and your tree after all anyway.

Those parts won't weather any faster than if they were behind some old shed, so you're not wasting anything. I think it's cool as hell.
I do have to wonder though, if you should add some diagonal bracing on the legs, just to be safe. Don't want any side-load collapse.

The back of the cab also has .5 x 6" long screws into the tree(4x) and also 8 4 x 4's concreated in the ground, supporting the structure. It feels solid as a rock when on it. Might need to do alittle rust repair on the floor :D

Youre right it stays dry up there compared to sitting on the ground.:D

A can of white paint and a paint brush would work nicely:D
