I tried this awhile back, but know one seemed to see it or help. So I'll try again... My name is Vince. I am 17 years old and building my first car. It is a 1950 Dodge Coronet that I bought from the original owner last June. It doesn't run and is a little rough around the edges but it will be cool when finished. I am re-building the brakes (master cylinder, wheel cylinders, etc) and hope to get the motor running soon. I am on a budget so I'm going to lower it with 4 inch blocks in the back and cut a couple coils in front. One of the major things that I am stuck on is the paint. It looks ok in the pics but in person its pretty worn down and I'd like to do something different. I know that I shouldn't be worring about the paint right now when the car isn't even running yet, but I have got a lot of free time in school and my car is what I think about most/ besides the hot chick sitting a couple desks over and behind me... Things are going a little slow right now because I have done the most I can do without my dad's help and am waiting for some more of his guidance. I could use a little motivation if it's not too much trouble. I have seen some of the cars you guys have photochopped here and I know that is something I could use for motivation and help me visualize how to best go about the outer appearance. When I posted this last time, a member asked why I posted this when I had already photochopped it myself on another site. The truth is that I am still learning and would like to see what someone else can come up with. I've photoshoped my car and posted the pics in my intro on Ruffrodders, but with a couple members there telling me how bad they were and how much i needed to practice and how I shouldn't even post them, I came here. I was just wondering what you guys could do with it. Thanks again, I can't wait to see some of the things you can come up with. Later, Vince (The pics were taken the day I got the car out of the field it had sat in since '79, there the only pics so far with the car out of the garage.)
I saw one of those the other day with the cliched flat black primer and red wheels, but it looked nice. The guy wanted $3k for it with a volare front clip and a 350 already installed, it needed floors. Sorry, I don't have any guidance or photoshopping, but the one I looked at was pretty badass...
got another pic off google... a general shave... french headlights... pull bumper closer to the grille... chop top... i dunno... i'd do a few things to it but if your gunna get full on into it, make sure you like the car and didnt just get it cause it was cheap!!!! otherwise you're gunna lose intrest real quick... either way... have fun mang.... dave.
Damn... for some reason I never get as many replies as the other photoshop posts... oh well, I did it myself... i didn't change the paint, but i changed the wheels, lowered it and chopped the top. What do you guys think... with and without a shave... Vince
First give them more than 2 hrs, good photoshops take a lil time. 2nd, let them get home from work first. It's only 2:30, they got till 5 at least!
ya... I didn't realize that...I might have got the time wrong (eastern), I did this yesterday... but definitly not at 12 in the morning... I was in my computer class at school taday and gave it a try. If anyone else wants to give some input and/or their ideas, here are a couple pics I pulled from a video I took on delivery-day (I don't know if their any different, but I did it twice because one might be clearer than the other): thanx: Vince
I have a quick couple ideas...... 1- chop it three inches and in that process shorten the length of roof- in effect lengthening the trunk as the old 3 w dodges were done 2- splice on a 53 chevy roof to mimick the photoshop you did above and use a smaller 49 rear window and a filled rear pillar...... 3 -FORGET the RED WHEELS
for help on mechanicals /parts and ideas in general, check out p-15-d24.com primarily for 46-48 plyms, and dodges, but guys with 30s cars on up contribute....Waterboy.......
Thanks for the help and ideas so far... I used the Polygon Lasso to lower the car. Check out this site: http://www.photoshopjunkie.com/tutorials/ It'll teach you everything you need to know. This is very interesting. You must have chopped your fair share of cars to come up with that. Would the 49 rear window be from a dodge or chevy? And I know this is dumb to ask... but to make sure, what do you mean by a "filled rear pillar?" Thanks again, Vince (to keep things going, here is one I did a while back when I first got the car, just lowered with out a chop... and also a pic of a business coupe, sorry about the red wheels but they were there when I found the pic)
Red oxide, with pale yellow scallops and wheels, blackwalls, get rig of some chrome, the grill badge, DODGE lettering, door handles, script on fender, and the bumper guards, lower and a maybe later, chop.
