My new project car is a 63 T-Bird and as everyone knows stance is everything. I went from this.............to this
I used the Accuair set up, Made my own Triangulated four link, Firestone F9000 bags out back and SS7's up front.
Never thought I would say it.... but I liked it better in the before shot! But this would have been even better!... with a real Stance. Skirts could go... but can stay for me as well.
Right on Rikster! Looks like the broken plastic model you had as a kid right after your little brother just smashed it, and more than a little silly with the frame laying against the tarmac. Brings to mind the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
thanks rik. i didnt want to be the first to say it and come off sounding like an ***. low dosent equal stance
looks good in the photo chop BTW. id like to see what it looks like with the new wheels and full skirts tho
Thanks for the chop Rik. Your right Rik that looks fantastic. The cool part is I have the wheels and cap and the the plans are to shave it clean as you chop shows. I'm also making the skirts full. It's all adjustable for stance I was just showing the extremes
^^ looks good gecko. from what i hear from guys with bags, they tend to leave them at ride height after the novelty wears off anyway but i guess itd be good to have the option. be sure to post the pics when you make further changes
Hey! i have account problems in the other board but meant to let you know that i studied the pics of your link set up and its flat out amazing. Really nice and clean fabrication. Theres also one thing i wanted to ask: you say you didnt need any driveshaft tunnel or floor/trunk boards rise, but can you drive on full drop w/out the driveshaft hittin like mad? cause that is the most common reason for rising the floor. i agree w/ Muttley on this vvv I think most 60s cars look great w/out skirts, this is one of them, specially on mags.
I'm with rik on this one. I guess it is because I am old but I still think that parking one should be the same as driving one. Rocker covers just are not intended to be used an an E brake. Note: this is not an attempt to bad mouth the bird. You did what you like and you can always make it sit @ drive height with those adjustable rate springs at a later date if you decide to.
at ride height it looks great... Gotta third the skirt issue though, sixties cars just don't need them! 'Specially not with mags!!!
I love it at the ride height you've got it,but in my humble opinion cars that "lay frame" or are "in the weeds" when parked up don't look parked, they just look broken. These birds are one of my favourites, nice car. Paul
Rik, I also have a 63 Tbird so this P-shop is encouraging. I always wanted to take an extra set of 63 front fenders and use them to re-arch the rear fender wells and then extend the A line from the front bumper to the tail light. I also dig the accessory lip lace T-bird wires with a skinny white.
Yeah! Like that. I like to match the amount of exposed wheel and tire front and back if I can. That would put more of a hotrod rake to this car that might not work. I do dig the extended A line though! Hmm.
I worked the A line to the center of the round tail light housing. That made the line more parallel with the fin which isn't parallel to the ground, in turn dropping the fender opening lower than the front opening exposing less tire. Don't feel like I nailed the front of the rear wheel opening in the area that would mimic the rear of the front bumper either. It's too "straight up and down" in my rendering. Needs more work to get that line to flow more nicely... Of course, a PhotoChop has got to be WAY different than working in actual steel!
