I would also love to take a peek at that install, as well as those cad drawings. My 60 coupe is due for a lowering soon also and looks great.
Wow! It doesn't get better than a '60 Caddy in the weeds!! I'd love to hear about the ride quality once you've put some miles on it.
Update: 6/21/11 - Went with the new SS-7 bags up front and modified the upper front end bag cups. 5" pipe is too large, went with 4" heavy wall. Now it raises so freaking smooth!!! Still have the Dominator 2600's out back. I really need some insight on front shock mounting though. Any thoughts or pics out there? I know someone out there has tackled this issue!! Trying to get this project wrapped up so I can put it up for sale. I found a '50 Harley that I have to have now. DAMN, I'm never satisfied!! Thanks gang for all the kind words!!

Once again... It rocks bro! Seems like I've read of a couple guys... with 63-65 Rivieras fabricating shock mounts from the lower strut rods to the frame... haven't seen any pics though... The front shock situation is kinda what spooks me about baggin my cadillac... I'd love to have this one... but I've got a 4x4 I'd have to move first though...
mounting shocks on the frontend of a bagged Caddy (in theory) can't be that big of a deal. remember, these ol' girls were optioned out with air ride from the factory. I have scoured through my old Caddy shop manuals to see how the factory mounted shocks to the factory air ride cars, but couldn't come up with a sound solution. I won't cobble something up just for the sake of having shocks on the front either. gotta be clean and look like it was meant to be there.
I've been running no shocks, but would like to change that. This is the best idea I've found yet, except I'm going to try to use shocks that are stud mount on both ends to avoid binding. I wish I could give credit to this picture but I can't remember where I found it. I got it through google image search, but I'm pretty sure it came from the hamb... I had to stare at this for a minute to figure out what I was looking at. Thus pic is taken from the engine compartment, looking at the inner frame rail in front of the spring pocket.
If you use racing shocks that have hyme joints on the ends, that will prevent binding. You can find a ton of options on speedways website under the oval track section.
Does it have strut rods on the lower arms? if so, thats where you want your lower shock mount to be welded. Post a picture of the front suspension and i bet i'll find a solution. a 50 harley? jeeez, restore or chop? love me a vintage harley
bonez, the lower sway bar mount on the lca is the exact place I was thinking about to bolt the lower shock mount to. eight433's pic up there looks very do-able since when aired out, the lca gets very close to the frame..... so you will need to get some height by welding the top shock mount to the top of the frame. 54'caddy is also spot on since in that pic, the shock appears to be in a bind. soooooo, a heim would be the hot ticket for the upper mount. I'll post a pic of the my completed assembly (minus shocks obviously) in a few.... oh, the Harley will stay bone ass stock. just can't bring myself to bobbing a 60 year old survivor.... well not right away at least
