Finally got a fixer upper hotrod from an old family friend. 1931 Model A 5 window w/full fenders. going throught the parts boxes to see where I stand. Lots of good stuff and a solid body. Has a 303 Olds with a '39 Licoln Zephyr transmission, '34 drop axle, 39 front brakes and a 40 ford split axle in the rear. This car was rodded in the 50's and into the 60's and 70's.. Lots of history. Anyway, have been seeing some good info here and decided to join in... Lyle, Everett, Wa
Thanks everyone. Going to pull it apart and box the frame and put in one of the super x members to get it nice and stable. Then put it back together pretty much as is. Going to try and run the 303 and running gear, picked up a 4x2 Edelbrock intake already.. The history with the last owner, one of my good friends Dad: He purchased the car in 1955 when he was 15, unable to actually own the car at the time, a friend claimed possesion and when he turned 16 he became the official owner. This was his first car and subsequently dated and married his wife in this car. The car was rodded and modded over time and was parked in late '70's, some body work and frame work was done and some parts took a trip to the chrome shop.. but it never made it back to the road. I first recall the car from '79 through my late teen years thinking it was going to be a cool car when he finished it, but it continued to sit in the shop as family and his business took his time. Well I was talking with my friends in California a few months back and they mentioned he was ready to let it go.. I could not let it go just anywhere as it was as much a part of his history as ours (my group of friends growing up) so i scrounged the cash and drove down and brought it home last week. There are probably only two cars I would do this for the one I just bought and my old first car '69 SS nova that i cannot locate.. It's not everyday you get a car from someone who owned it for 56 years! And I also have the name of the person he bought it from..
