saw this in the woods of PA today

saw this stuff today out riding quads. what are the first two cars and what year merc?

 

Red car is a Nash Metropolitan. Not amphibious.

 

52 austin..and the red one is a Metropoliton (S)
and a Merc

 

the merc is a '51

 

Looks like you've found a Nash Metropolitan, an Austin A40 ,and a '51 Merc.

Austin A-70 Hampshire, not an A-40. A-40's are cool, A70's look like mechanical pot bellied pigs!!

 

If the cars are on private property ignore my next sentence. But the parts on that '51 Mercury are useful to us. I see a lot of good stuff on it. I personally would love a set of those front bumper guards.

 

****, I'd see about getting that whole Merc out. I kinda dig the Austin, neat looking little *******. As for the Nash, it's seen better days. What was up with the old truck back there???

 

I can ***ure you any car sitting in dirt for more than 30 days in Pennsylvania has no bottom. One tug on that Merc and you would instantly channel it.

 

You don't want to know then how many cars I've pulled out of New York dirt in one piece. Mercs have fairly decent frames, just jack it up out of the mud before you pull on it and it will be fine.

 

That Metropolitan is a convertible and may be worth draging home.

 

Can't be that bad, I'm with Rustynewyorker on this one. I've pulled **** out of the mud here in Florida and only ever had one car break in half on me, it was a Nova so it makes sense.

 

I agree I'd try to save the merc. Well come to think of it try to save them all!!! By the way nice find chris' 38.

 

There's some HAMBers out in Laurelton who restore Nashes, so if you get the car,they'd probably be interested in it.

 

So you could shorten the Hampshire ch***is, put the metro body on it and gain 1000 cc's in the engine department. The A70 did 0 to 60 in 21.4 seconds and would top out at 85mph.

That's an Austin A70 Hereford alright, not something you see every day at all! If it's remotely saveable that's not one to crush, VERY few of those left.

What is it with weird and rare old British cars popping up on here of late? In the past week it's been a Vauxhall Wyvern, Ford Zephyr and now this

As ususal 37, we think alike. The Met is a fairly rare body style. The Met club has a Nat'l meet at Macungie every Aug., there's about 50 or so show up but very few convertibles.

 

The Merc is the one you pull out!

 

only one there worth a spit is the willys pickup cab, the rest are just rebar waiting to happen

The Austin grille would make for some cool garage wall hanging art. Imay be interested if you could score it. And who doesnt love a plum crazy purple challenger (even tho its not hamb friendly).
