I have a set of 49 F-100 backing plates and drums. Does anyone know if these are the ones that fit 37 Ford spindles?

Yup, their the right ones. You have to go to Speedway or one of the other ones to get the right bearing set to fit the 37 spindles.

  3. I believe there is a tech thread in the archives that has the bearing, race, and seal numbers. Buy good bearings, not the cheap stuff.

The original conversion was for '53-'56 F100, not Early F-1.
I don't know if there is something new that I haven't seen for F-1s
but here's the article and information on the changeover from the 90s. The bearings and parts are readily available at parts stores if you have the backing plates, hubs and drums from a '53-'56.

This shows where to grind the kingpin boss for clearance.
