i know ive seen a tech on the bearing numbers to put disk brakes on 36-41 round spindles, i have the one from speedway but the inner bearing ID is to big for the spindle, the outer bearing is correct..anyone have an idea of how i can put 5 51/2 rotors on my 36-41 spindles???? thanks
I know Speedway used to sell bearing spacers (or sleeves) for standard bearings but I didn't see them when I just did a quick search... They seem to sell specific bearings sets now that don't need adapters. If you have access to a lathe or someone with one I have attached a picture of what people say is the right specs to make them. Hopefully it shows up ok. Someone may correct me on this but here goes...
Speedway (a**** others) sells a kit from Magnum Axel that contains all the pieces needed, including the inner bearing spacers. All you have to buy extra are the mid 70's Mopar rotors, ('82 thru '85 Plymouth Gran Fury) along with the GM "metric" calipers, as used on '78 thru 85 Olds Cutl***, as well as other GM products., such as used on These rotors are 5 on 4 1/2",(Ford/Mopar wheels) but Speedway also stocks GM type rotors that are 5 on 51/2" if that's what you need. Everything is "bolt on", and works great, right out of the box. I hope this helps..... 4TTRUK
There has to be someone that's done this before. Put disk brakes on 37-41 spindles. The bearing kit I have only the outter bearing fits the inner bearing ID is to big for the spindle race. The other guys are talking about a sleeve but I can't seem to find one on speedway or google. Please help me out with this. Thanks
if you measure the spindle o.d. and the rotor i.d. most good parts stores can get you a bearing and race to fit your dimensions.
You need the spacer as stated above. You can probably get one from Speedway call them and ask or like said bove have them turned by someone.
Call ch***is engineering inc. in West Branch Iowa they'll set you up with quality parts and they know what your talking about .
