Ride height for Model A coupe

    Looking for guidance -

    I'm using the stock Model A frame with a full fendered car and 30in tires, with posies reversed eyes transverse spring.

    If I use the Model A rear spring mounts (above the axel) - will the car sit too high?

    Or, would a better option be to use 32-34 rear spring mounts (using the same Model A rear spring)? Would the car then sit too low?

    I have Posies springs as they came. I discussed with them of my car and got these years ago. Reversed eyes but not their super lows.
    Front axle is Super Bell 4" drop 46". Model A drivetrain. 5.60-15 and 8.20-15 Firestone bias ply tires on 5" and 7" wide Vintique wheels.
    The rear is too high and quite hard but is nicer with people sitting on rumble seat. I've been too busy on my other A's to take one or two leafs off.

  4. i have posies reverse eye in the front, and a so-cal front 4 inch axle, the rear is standard A spring with a 6 inch kickup (about 4 inches of square tube on top of the frame) combined make abou 6 inches of drop. and it looks killer.
     
  5. oh and i think 4 leaves removed in the stock rear spring.


    if you use the mounts that mount the spring behind the rear axle it kicks the rear end closer to the front of the car and looks stupid.you would have to lengthen the frame in the rear , i have a kickup and STILL have room for a rumble seat.

    running 700's in the rear, top of the tire is right at the fender line

    You will have to extend the frame to use the spring behind rear set up.

    you can sling the spring off the rear cross member also, no need to extend the frame, it's even possible to retain the rumble seat

    This is what I did.. Welded rear crossmember to the frame at the corners.. Put K supports from crossmember to frame( to stop cantilever effect), boxed frame and made a suicide perch for spring behind rear end.. Worked for me and gave me ride height I wanted........
