We're starting to consider bands for this year's Pileup (10/8). I have always tried to book "car-related" bands... guys who were into cars, especially HAMBers. I also like to mix it up... Rockabilly, Surf, Garage, Psychobilly, Rock, and Punk. Rockabilly gets the most response from the crowd though. HAMB bands that have played in the past include Bleed (Milwaukee), Knuckel Drager (Madison), Crown Hill Diggers (Indy), and Hot Rod Hucksters (Chicago)... and Ms. Metal's boy's band Rocket 350 (Atlanta) We will probably have pre and post show parties at Fool's Pub again, so that's bands on Friday night, Saturday night, and Saturday day during the show. So, I'm throwing this out there for HAMB bands for first consideration. PM me, or email me at hellfish@hunnertcarpileup.com. I'm open to non-HAMB suggestions, too... but keep in mind that we don't have a Hootenanny budget, so the Rev, Social Distortion, and the Stray Cats are out of the question... unless someone can get them cheap for us
The reluctant Aquanats!!!! Know one dose surf stuff and alot of us like surf stuff I liked them last year reel cool name too. I dont know much surf rock but id like to say just have some
The Reluctant Aquanauts rule and we are friends with those guys (the Hucksters cd was recorded in their drummer's studio) but we try to not repeat bands at the Pileup from year to year. Keeps it fresh.
Obvious ***-kissing aside,I was very impressed with this band last year. I hope they play this coming Pile Up. Joel
You ought to have the worlds greatest band play, Demolition Derby. Drew can back me up on this one. I can get you contact info. They are from Bloomington, IL and all of their songs are about racing. They have to play early in the day though because they tend to get ****ed up and can't play (just like any real rock star). They played my party last year and the lead singer (known simply as "The Dude") was so drunk he was drinking a beer, singing, smoking a cigarette and trying to light another because he was so drunk that he forgot he already had one in his mouth. Awesome Performers to say the least.
sounds like half the people at last year's Pileup! hahaha! Again... October 8, 2005 (pre-show party would be on the 7th) Thanks Joel! See you Sunday
Do these guys play around here somewhere because I've never seen/heard them play? Which bars do they play and I'll make sure to do a little "research" on them some night.
I'd like to see/hear the Twistin' Tarantulas at the PileUp. It's been a few years since I've seen them play but when I did they were great.
Anybody interested in a hippie drum circle? I just checked our schedule, and luckily my band "The Harmonic Bongo Convergence" happens to be free that weekend.
